PLEASE HELP ME
I have a huge group of frineds at college i go to Kean University in NJ its got around 14,000 students so its not a huge school but its not small either..its just near Rutgers.. the fraternities here are just not that cool to be perfectly honest with you and there is only 2 national fraternities on campus TKE and psi sigma fi ..the rest are all local..and we dont want that with all respect ot local fraternities..we all have discused this and i was chosen to try my hardest to research a national fraternity that is well known and very large and try and bring them to our campus. We want a fraternity that we can trust in, that has a psitive rep, is well known at other schools and MAYBE possibly help us for the future. and WE DEFINETLY love to have fun. who can help me with a list of suggestions for fraternities..? please emial me if possible as chcking this might take some time for me.. I would first suggest getting a list of all the fraternities in the NFC (IFC). Go to each of their respective National websites and do a little research on them. You will also need to contact their HQ and find out if they are open to expansion on your campus. (I don't know how they do expansions in the NFC/IFC). Once you find about 5-6 national fraternities that you like, have them come to your campus and do a presentation of the National organization.
I am confused as to why your Greek Council is not doing this??

Often, fraternity chapters are formed by groups which choose a national organization they aspire to join. Those groups can form an "interest group." They'll need to probably contact the organization they're interested in joining first to see what the criteria are, whether the national is interested in colonizing at that particular university, etc.
Also, just a small word of advice. When you contact a national organization, you're going to want to sound very professional. Any allusions to the fact that you "like to have fun" should definitely be left out. We all know that fraternities like to have fun. It's just that the national is probably going to be expecting you to be trying to spread their organization to a new campus because you support that organization's ideals, not because you want to hang up some well-known letters at your next party.
We build our national reputation (ideally) for things like brotherhood, success, friendship, and alumni support not for our great parties (nothing says you can't be good at all of the above).
Good luck.

Kevin stated it very well.
But, another thing that is important is if the school is interested in expansion and what the feelings are on the campus of said school. How are the Sorority groups there if any.
Those are two main things before a National Fraternity will even consider coming on and expanding to a campus. Having a strong amount of interested people is a trmendous help in talking with a National Orgainzation.
With the size of your school, it seems that there is a lack of GLOs available and may be ripe for expansion.
If you have a strong group and the blessing of the school, you can then contact National organizations and they can come to interview you.
Good luck. It is always nice to see more people interested in becoming a member of A Greek Organizatopn.

Buddy, I second the notion that you need to sound professional. You need to pay attention to grammar and spelling too. Do you speak the way that you type?
You also need to come up with some better reasons as to why you are soliciting any particular fraternity. "Well known", "very large", "positive rep" - these things are usually based on how the CHAPTER operates. For example, ABC fraternity may be big and popular on one campus, but may be small and have a poor rep at another. It is what you put into it. A fraternity is not about what it can do for you in the future.
Sit down, focus on what you really want to say, and put your thoughts into intelligent sentences. Best of luck.

Absolutely true, for instance, TKE were BMOCs when I was at Penn State so don't think you know a national because of one chapter.
