Ever want a fancier badge?

I love that we all get the same, standardized badge because I like simple things and I think our badge with the pearls is simple and beautiful.

However, do any of you guys sometimes wish we had the option of buying fancier "bling" badges with more jewels, etc.? I know that the whole point of Sarah Ida Shaw's design was to keep it simple so that women weren't judged by the fanciness of their badges. But what do you think?

There was a picture in a recent issue of the Trident showing an old badge with opals, and I thought it was really stunning.

I love our badge because it is so simple and yet so elegant. To me, too many jewels on a badge or any piece of jewelry can be too gaudy (no offense to anyone who likes the extra jewels ). We do have the choice of having three pearls, one pearl, or no pearls on our trident, and even the trident itself is optional. I think Sarah Ida Shaw wanted the extra bling on the badge, but it was Eleanor Pond that advised against it.

I love the simplicity of our badge, but then again I'm a simple person.

I do wish we could upgrade the badge sometimes. I think last year the Trident did an article that featured some of the badges before it was standardized and some were GORGEOUS with opals and diamonds and emeralds. Really nice.

I do like the thought behind I badge, playing into the looking more into a woman's charcter than her outward apperance.

I guess I'll just have to become a member of the Exectutive Board so I can have a bling bling badge for a year. I'd actually be scared to wear it. There is a reason I bought a Trident gaurd (with one pearl!) and had it saudered on...and still every once in awhile I look down and see the badge hanging by the chain that connects it to the trident.

So I was bore after the Super Bowl (great game) and came across this thread. This is a bump to see if anyone could link some pictures of the old "bling" badges- I'm curious . I like our simple, elegant badges but I do sometimes wonder wonder what it'd look like to have options with it. Course, that could just be because I like sparkly things. Thanks!
