What to get for a wedding gift!!!

Hey, I have been invited to a wedding. The girl that is getting married is a daughter of my co-worker. What do I get for a wedding gift? I have met her daughter once and I don't really know her taste. I asked her mother and she just keeps saying, " Get her anything you like". Please help me with this one!!! Thank you!

Well, the first question I would ask if I were in your position is "Is the couple registered somewhere?" If they are, then you can find a gift on their registry that they are sure to love because they've picked it out already. I'm assuming that they may not be registered anywhere because I would think your co-worker would have directed you to it when you were asking what to get, but you can check some popular registries here, just in case: www.gifts.com/registry/wedding

Assuming they aren't registered, you can find a nice gift (the accepted equation to figure out monetary investment on your part is your budget times your level of affection for the bride or groom or their families) at a number of stores. One of my favorite off-registry gifts I got was a set of crystal champagne flutes from my next-door neighbor. Another I got was a beautiful silver photo frame which I used to frame one of my wedding photos. I've seen other creative gifts, like monogrammed guest towels, sporting tickets (for sports enthusiasts), and a subscription to wine or beer or chocolates-of-the-month programs.

My go-to wedding gift is the Deluxe Spicy Wedding from Penzey's (www.penzeys.com ). It has a beautiful pepper grinder, fabulous spice mixes, and the traditional "good luck" spices with story cards explaining the meanings. I always get raves about it -HTH.

I know. It's just that when someone's first post has absolutely nothing to do with the subject of the messageboard....

Just know that when it does come, I'm not above saying "I told you so".

I don't understand why you have to get a gift for someone you've only met once.... go to the wedding and skip the reception. Or if they're in the same place, get them a card and a check for the cost of the meal, LOL
