Woman Found Dead in Clothes Donation Box
Aug 20, 2007 05:56 AM
WEST TOLEDO -- Toledo Police have not identified a woman who apparently got stuck in a clothes donation box and suffocated. Her body was found around 6:30 Sunday morning.
Police say a passerby was walking to work around that time and saw the female victim hanging partially out of the box in the 4100th block of Monroe Street, near Harley Road. The passerby dialed 911 after the victim didn't answer. "I was definitely nervous," said the passerby, who did not want to be identified. "I didn't know what to do, but when I kicked the side of the box, that's when I decided I should call the police. She didn't respond."
Toledo Police officers and firefighters responded to the scene, and got the woman out of the box. Investigators say it appears the victim was trying to get into the box, and her head got stuck inside.
Workers from the Lucas County Coroner's office took the body away. They will do an autopsy.
There's no word on the victim's identity. Crime scene investigators from the Toledo Police scoured the scene, looking for clues.
