The New Host Of The Price Is Right Is....
Drew Carey
Drew Carey Is Bob Barker's Replacement
Jul 23, 4:29 PM EST
The Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right."
Carey confirmed the deal during a taping of the "Late Show" with David Letterman.
The selection attracted more attention than usual for a daytime show because of the prospect of replacing Barker, 83. Barker retired after 35 years in the job last month following taping of his 6,586th episode.
The opening attracted widespread interest, including from comic Rosie O'Donnell after she left "The View."
Carey, 49, spent a decade on his own ABC sitcom and also was host of the game show "Whose Line is It Anyway?," a comic improvisational show.

Compaired to the other choices they had, Drew was actually one of the better ones.

Singing (to the tune of "One Less Bell to Answer"):
One less Game Show to watch
One less Dream to dream.
One more great show to botch.
I should be happy, but I just want to scream!

It does seem like a strange choice, but congratulations to a Brother Delt from Kent State.

Thus begins the cycle of sitcom refugee host after sitcom refugee host until the show eventually fades into oblivion

After watching him on Letterman tonight, I may have to change my mind about Drew Carey. He seems to be less earthy and more down to earth than he's been in the past. If he continues as such, I may become a fan.
But only if he's neutered.

IDK, Bob Barker bugged me on the show. I found it so utterly annoying when he would be like pause and talk and not tell the contestant if they are a winner or not. I was like "seriously, moron just let the person know or not". I found it so annoying. I knew he was doing it to drag on the suspense but I just felt at times it was overboard and uncalled for.

Doug Davidson & John O'Hurley (aka J Peterman from Seinfeld) were 2 of them, plus Mario AC Slater Lopez.
I was surprised by this, but the more I think about it the more I like it. I was rooting for Doug D, but I think he would have ended up just being a young Bob and probably a poor imitation at that. They need someone totally different from Bob so they can make the show their own.
