Ice Cream Recruitment Party
Hello,
I would like to have an ice cream recruitment party but I can't think and have searched for games that relate to that theme.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Jessica

My first thought in reading this thread is:
Wouldn't ice cream be messing during recruitment?
While the PNMs and your sisters are not little kids, accidents do happen, and it wouldbe horrible for a PNM to have ice cream dripping down her dress and she still has other parties to go to.
Just my two cents!

It may be more expensive, but you could do those ice cream drops that are dipped in chocolate. (I forget the name)
Also, a great way to avoid straight up ice cream is to have everything pre-scooped and rolled into various outside toppings. (like vanilla ice cream rolled in peppermint, or coconut, or crushed cookies) You can pre-make all of this and keep the rolled scoops in cupcake foils/wrappers. It is then very easy to serve with little mess.

How about Candyland?
Or some icebreaker with answering questions based on what toppings you put on your ice cream? M&Ms could be a question from the family category, Oreo crumbs could come from the hobby category, etc.
Wow, where do I come up with this stuff?

I am digging for an idea here. Let's say you roll the ice cream scoops in four different things. (choco chip cookies, sprinkles, coconut, peppermint) You could have a 2 minute timer and each girl would have to see how many words they could make from that coating that their ice cream was rolled in. You could scatter the types among each table and they can work individually or serve all one type to a table and have them work as a group.

this would be really messy but at our senior grad party we had an icecream party where you drew a number, each number corralated with a bowls, a spoon, the actual icecream, whip cream, sprinkles, cherries, and sauce. you would draw a number and that's what you would get first, it was actually really fun but might be a little messy for the lobby.

Go for it with the ice cream! I guess it depends on the type of girl you're recruiting...we had one for a spring COB one year and it was great. I think most of my girls can appreciate a PNM who can enjoy ice cream and not get wigged out by a spill...laughing it off is a good sign.
Something you could do instead of games is watch movies...isn't that what girls do when they have boy troubles? Eat ice cream and watch chick flicks?
Maybe you could play bingo with the toppings. You could also divide girls up by their ice cream choice (say all the chocolates here, all the vanillas there, all the strawberries...) and play a game that could use teams, like Trivial Pursuit or Scattergories, something that everyone can get into.

We did an ice cream social for informal recruitment for both Winter and Spring. We just sat around and chatted while eating, and afterwards watched TV. It was for the third (last) day, though. It was a good chance to just get to talk to the girls. Surprisingly it wasn't very messy. We had our girls serving, asking what PNMs wanted. Kept things neat. It worked very well, it was a good chance to get to talk to the girls. Everyone loves ice cream, and if a girl doesn't know what to say she can take a bite to think!

what about a byob....bring your own banana...party? You could have arts and crafts supplies for the girls to decorate. you could give prizes for the best dressed banana, etc.

well the easiest option would be like a ice cream cone decorating party. its not the funnest idea ever but still simple and can be entertaining. All you need is some ice cream, toppings, and cones...and of course napkins. The only ice cream socials i've been to were meant for the sisters and interests to just socialize and get to know each other. hope this helps

Depending on the number of PNMs perhaps you could do it in stations. One could be for bowls, and you tell them about your philanthropy. Two could be for ice cream and they learn about your purpose/symphony/creed. Third can be toppings (and this could be stretched out for different toppings and more stations added) about your financial or housing information. Lastly hand out spoons and talk about campus activities or honors.
This can also increase the amount of members who will meet a PNM so not only the sisters can meet the PNMs, but the PNMs can meet many sisters to both sides can make the most of a mutual selection.
