Writing new songs

I know there are a plethora (that's a calendar word for those of you who've seen Alfie) of song threads, but I accepted a bit of a challenge from my roomie/sister to write a Sigma Kappa song to Green Day's "American Idiot" and I'm looking for a bit of feedback on what I have so far!

Sigma Kappa, lavender and maroon
Not the kind of gir-ls to swoon
Somehow we ju-st kne-w!

We proudly sport the heart and the dove
These are the signs of our sisterly love
Always ready to shout, dance or sing!
We know our sisterhood's the real thing

When you're here the ski-es aren't so gray!
Sigma Kappa, Lavender and Maroon
Seems the night is always ending too soon Somehow we ju-st kn-ew

Don't wanna be a Gamma Phi or DG
Not for me is ADPi or KD
Could not have picked a better place for me!

Feedback please! And if people like I'll consider more challenges! I'm notoriously bad at following through on things, but this entertains me enough that I should keep at it.
