Angry Random Rant

I will title this: Mourning the Loss of Toffee

So, like many women, I have a favorite lipstick. It is Garden Botanika's Toffee. When I heard they were going out of business, I ran to the nearest GB and bought myself the last Toffee lipstick they had in stock. For a year now, I have had this color. I usually only wear it at night. I was starting to run low on it so about a month ago, I checked GB's online store so I could order a tube. To my dismay, Toffee was not listed on there. I grabbed my phone and called their customer service. The rep told me that the color had been discontinued!!!
I asked how it could be discontinued and she said that it must've been cause nobody was buying it. Now, I know that's not true because my friend Maria loves that color too. I told the rep that and she answered very sarcastically, "Well, then you two were probably the only two."
So, I decided that I would use this lipstick sparingly. I would wear it only for special occasions. In the meantime, I have searced for a color just as good as Toffee and nothing compares. The lipstick is either too light or too dark or stains my lips an awful pink color (yuck!).
I decided to wear the lipstick tonight to my ZTA meeting because it was a special occasion...Homecoming serenades. At the end of the meeting, I reached into my purse to grab my Toffee lipstick when I realized it was missing. My purse doesn't zip up all the way so it probably fell out. I looked all over the house for the lipstick and couldn't find it. I looked for a good 45 minutes. Every sister would say to me, "ZTAngel, do you really need it that bad?" and I would reply through clenched teeth "YES!". It was like a cocaine addict who needed their drug fix....I NEEDED MY TOFFEE LIPSTICK!
I called Maria on my cell phone to see if she had a tube that she could spare but she only had one left which she was using.
So, GCers, we have helped each other through dating crises, bad break ups, and other events. If any of you all know what lipstick color I'm talking about (have seen it before) and know of a color that compares, let me know. Or, if you happen to know wear I can find this color, let me know. I will be so happy!

Actually this chick I used to date loved that color also . . she, unlike you, thought ahead and picked up like a dozen tubes .

ZTAngel, I'm sorry! That happened to me when I was in high school and I absolutely loved Bonne Bell's "Almost Pink" lipstick and then it was discontinued. And unlike you, I didn't even have the chance to stock up. I had to give it up cold turkey!

All I can tell you is that someday you will find a lipstick you love just as much as your Toffee. Unfortunately though, it will probably be a $21.00 a tube Dior color or something!

I'm sorry ZTAngel...I think GB is notorious for that because it happened to my (biological) sister about a year ago too. I'm not sure if it was the same color or not, but I will ask her just in case...she might have a replacement suggestion.

Suggestion

I suggest do a search on the 'net for companies that do customer cosmetics (like www.reflections.com). Most of them are not really that pricey ($10-$20), it just depends of the complexity of the color, formula, etc..

Its so hard being a girl

Ohhhhhhhhhh! I hate it when places discontinue things that are so great! Oh well! I wish i could help you but I never used GB lipstick. Have you tried all the makeup counters through Dillards? Or how about Avon or Mary Kay?!?! I wish I could help!

Good Luck!

In case any of y'all were concerned....

I ordered from the Garden Botanika website a lipstick color which is close to toffee just a little lighter. It's called Truffle. Toffee...Truffle...both begin with T's and have something to do with candy. The lipstick arrived today through UPS. So far, I like it. It's close to Toffee...certainly not the same though. But, it is a really close match and I am once again happy.

Thumbs up

And once again, life is good....

Now, if you really decide you like Truffle, be sure and stock up on it. You never know with GB!

Hootie, I apologize for your rush hour drama, but I am taking this thread back to the lipstick topic because, after all, makeup is one of my main passions!

For anyone who is mourning the loss of a past color, get thee to a MAC counter pronto! They have such a multitude of magnificent shades, I am sure you will find a suitable replacement. And, even if they don't have something similar to your late color, the fabulously stylish guys and gals there will be able to hook you up with a hot new one.

My MAC faves-

Pinkish Shades
B-Cup
Bombshell

Goldish Shades
Vibe
Gleam

Reddish/Brownish, Pretty, Natural Shades
Spirit
Fluid
O
Viva Glam (I think it was the first one)
I can't remember all the rest, I've had so many in this color family...

Bold Shades
Rocker
Spice it Up
Viva Glam (the second one, or maybe it was the third?)

Also, I highly recommend their lacquers and lip glass!

Really, it's sick... I am obsessed with lipsticks/glosses. I went out to lunch with some people from work the other day and we started talking about what color lipsticks we wore... I reached in my purse and had 7 lip items... and that's par for the course for me!

Fragrance rant

I was beside myself because I couldn't find Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Nerolia (orange blossoms) at any store sources. Thank Goodness for Sephora...
