NKOTB

I have to admit
I am still hung up on NKOTB
People may not like them
But they sure did have their posters and tapes
Otherwise, I wouldn't be paying $35 for a 'Jordan Knight' button
I think they revoluntionized music for white kids during their time
And Jordan is the best dancer with his fast moves
But I'm just wondering
Which NKOTB songs everyone liked?
And like the Jackson 5 thread says
'You can PM me if you don't want to
publicly admit you're still or were a 'blockhead'

Not to be a hater, but this made me laugh!! When I was in college, I did a speech in my rhetoric class, the topic of which was how much they suck. I even played the song "Step by Step" (is that right?) as evidence of their suckiness. I got an A.

Really, looking back I suppose I can give them teeny tiny props. I've just never been a fan of that particular style of music.

But they were so awesome for their era
And I would like to see some of the guys try and do some of those moves
However, I'm glad that you gave them some props
Because I still rate them as the Number 1 Boy Band
My fave song is 'Step by Step' and 'Be My Girl'
Of course, there's others. . .

Oh my...when I was in the seventh grade I was IN LOVE with this group! My whole group of friends were too! We'd watch their concert videos over and over. For my 13th birthday my father made me a chocolate cake with something about NKOTB on it. That party was recorded so there is no denying that I loved them at one time.

Those were the days...

Kind of a funny story....

Joey was always my fave NKOTB. Anyone remember when he used to sing 'Please Don't go Girl' in his little baby voice? AWWWWWW!!!!!!
Well anyway, I was probably like 6 or 7 when I saw their concert on TV, and I started crying and ran into my parent's bedroom. I was so upset b/c I thought they had replaced Joey with a guy with a really deep voice!!!! It led to kind of an embarassing conversation w/my mom and to this day I can't listen to the song without thinking about my mom trying to explain how guys' voices change.....

Other than that, I loved 'Tonight'. Yeah it's a piece of crap but I'll know all the words until the day I die.

Everytime I watch "Boomtown" I scream, "Omg! It's Donnie!!" He (and Joey Joe) will never move on in my mind.

NKTOB were the best. I loved those b&w t-shirts with pics of them outlined in neon. Sweet!!

Did anyone have the "Hangin' Tough Live" video? When Donnie sang "Cover Girl" and gave out the rose....*sighs dreamily* I always wanted to be that girl.

Omigosh! Cover Girl was my favorite. I still remember every word "I wake up in the morning and I see your face girl, your looking so good everything in place!".... HAHA!! I also loved the right stuff and hated Hangin Tough! That was the worst!
That was my favorite tape until I got Boys to Men's MOTOWNPHILLY

Donnie

I forgot about 'The Right Stuff'
I remember when I was watching 'Ransom' and 'Sixth Sense'
I couldn't believe Donnie was acting
I love Joey because he has the baby face still
Oh, but I heard that Jonathan Knight was a real estate agent orr something like that
All of those still look the same

Donnie was everyone in my classes' favorite
It was because he was such a bad boy
He was the perfect posterboy for bad ass
Remember the fire at the Seelbach???
I walk past that place every day
I have only been in there like 10 times

OK, NKOTB hit the year after I graduated from High School...There really was no equivalent--they definitely started something.

Anyway-a couple of you mentioned Joey McIntyre, but I didn't see any mention of his current status as the hottie teacher on the Fox show "Boston Public." Gotta admit-he was a sort of a cute kid, but he grew up rather nicely.

Its not that they are bad artists per se . . . its that they break the sacred:

Covenant of Male Musicians

There's a lot to it, drugs parties etc . . . but the essence is:

Ugly guys that can sing or play an instrument can get laid by hot women

Seriously, male musicians become tranformed into desirable sex objects when they start playing. A little like the added sex appeal Letters give Frat Boys. . to Freshmen girls anyway lol.

So when you look at men like the New Kids . . . well they are obviosuly guys that have no trouble getting girls . . . or shouldn't.

This is unlike the so-called deep tortured artist that went unwashed and unclothed for years in his basement composing his pain to be transformed into a pleasure seeking sex god.

If you think about it you can see the betrayal.

ehehehehehehehe....NKOTB.

Well, I was 12-13 at the time, so yeah, I was a fan (not obsessed or anything).

I liked "The Right Stuff" and "Hangin' Tough".

What's that one song "didn't I blow your mind this time, didn't I?..." hehehe....my sister liked that one. My sister also like Corey Haim so I don't know where that leaves us.

Anyway, those times were fun!

.....Kelly

Cool

Oh, NKOTB.. what can I say....

Never got into them , why? Just seemed weird to covet your neighbor.

I grew up down the street from Donnie and Mark, and, from what I understand, they were discovered @ the mall or something. So, when I first saw them on TV, my entire family was like, "Hey, is that.. Don?"

Well, that spoiled it for me-- and the crowd of girls who basically camped outside of his parents home.

NKOTB fans: Run! Hide! Head for hills! It isn't safe anymore!

As for the 'ugly' male musicians. . .

are we forgetting Jimmy Page(who is sexy as hell), Jon Bon Jovi, the Beatles(Ringo was beautiful), and the list goes on? those weren't ugly male musicians. it's just that at the time. . .besides, the Jets, the teen market was missing something. and NKOTB was it.

and not to knock anything. . .but it did seem to be whoever was the popular boy band. . .every GUY was sporting their look.

led zepplin and van halen hairdos. . .
the mullet didn't just appear on the heads of rednecks. . .billy ray cyrus and KENNY CHESNEY were sporting those bad boys too.
and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE started the whole curly mass of hair on the top of your head. . .and now, i can't look at one fraternity around this area where there aren't some abercrombie, curly afro frat boys. . .

am i right???

So, NEW KIDS didn't spoil anything for male musicians. If anything, they gave them hope that 'yes, you can be hot as hell and still make beautiful music. . .'

now, didn't i blow your mind this time????
