Honoring VT victims

I received this message in an email and wanted to post it here:

------------------------------
"Orange and Maroon Effect"

Virginia Tech family members across the country have united to declare this Friday, April 20th, an "Orange and Maroon Effect" day to honor those killed in the tragic events on campus Monday, and to show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends.

"Orange and Maroon Effect" was born several years ago as an invitation to Tech fans to wear orange and maroon to Virginia Tech athletic events. We invite everyone from all over the country to be a part of the Virginia Tech family this Friday, to wear orange and maroon to support the families of those who were lost, and to support the school and community we all love so much.
------------------------------

I, for one, will be wearing one of these colors to honor the Hokie family. "For today, we are ALL Hokies."

Since Hubby is a VT graduate, we made orange and maroon ribbons and wore them, and gave them out.

Yesterday, I was out and about in Northern VA ranging from the Leesburg Outlets to a major ms/hs solo festival competition to a restaurant in Arlington. Lots of maroon and orange was worn everywhere I went.

The former xc teammates of the girl who was killed from our hs are already in the process of organizing a 5k run this summer to establish a local scholarship in her name. I hope they are successful.

All the flags in my city and on my campus are at half mast. And most of the students on campus have been wearing maroon and orange ribbons all week long. I agree Tom, very sad!
