Thumbs up File Your Taxes for Free

My mom sent this to me and I am about to do my taxes now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just completed my federal taxes online for free... go to www.irs.gov and they will list several places you can choose from. I used HR Block and did it for free.
H&R Block: Free federal online tax preparation and e-filing if you have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $34,000 or less. More details
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I just did both my federal and state in less than 45 minutes. HOT DAYUM! And am getting refunds for both.

It cost 19.95 to do the state returns but I get both refunds in 2 weeks. And I do not have a math headache like I did last year.

I've used the free service in the past and it works GREAT. no headaches, very easy and QUICK way to get your money.

however...

If you're in DC/MD/VA and you'd like to get in touch with a tax preparer, my mommy works with H&R Block. PM me if you'd like further info.

Last year, I filed my taxes online with H&R Block for free. I'm clueless about taxes and the website was very informative. I had my refund auto-deposited into my account in 2 weeks.

Turbo Tax Online

I used Turbo Tax this year. You can go online to www.turbotax.com. You have the option to pay once you've filed or let them get it out of your refund. You don't have to purchase the software from stores. Turbo Tax did it all and I needed a number of additional forms.

In 2003 and 2004 I used www.24hourtaxrefund.com. They were good but Turbo is better.

I've also used Turbo in the past, but for some reason my state taxes aren't free.

So does it cost extra to get your taxes back early by doing it this way?

Cali_Keisha, the cost could range anywhere from $19.95 to $39.95 to do your taxes using one of the online services. It's free for using www.irs.gov

I did my taxes online this year cause I needed the money quicker... but for those in KY... going to the state's website is how you get your Federal AND state taxes done for free.
