We actually have two students speak at the Commencement on Monday morning, instead of distinguished guests. My school's rationale for this is that we should be celebrating the students. Technically, the only way you can speak at a Commencement here is to have a diploma from here or be a candidate for one--the Baccalaureate speakers are the same ones who receive honorary degrees from the University that weekend. Last year, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was one of them. I don't know who will be here next.
