The Golden Globe Awards, Next The Oscars

I guess many of "us" will be watching or recording the broadcast.

Eddie, Beyonce, and Jennifer are all nominated for the DreamGirls roles.

Best of luck to the nominees!!!

I read the article, but I'm torn on if it's fair or not.

Beyonce clearly should be supporting actress in this movie. Jennifer Hudson was the star. I'm so baffled on why she supposedly has the leading role.

This is for the song....which she acutally had a chance in winning. We really need something to redeem ourselfs after Three Six Mafia won last year. I am really for her.

I don't feel bad for her - Prince "outed" her a while ago (that she can't read music) so I doubt she really had a hand in truly writing the song (suggesting a word or theme doesn't count). Her people fixed the submissions for nominations (she shouldn't have been nominated for Best Actress) so its just kharma that she's being removed from the category she "thought" she had a lock on.

I don't know why everyone is so sure she would have won in this category anyway - Prince Rogers Nelson is gona win for "Happy Feet" hands down!

The only thing she was the lead actress in was marketing and posters for Dreamgirls.

That was clearly Jennifer Hudson's movie. It sounds like behind the scenes maneuvering was taking place to steal some of her shine. tsk tsk tsk

You're so right! I am so perplexed as to why they had her in the forefront in all of their marketing materials. They were on the December cover of Ebony and the cover stated, "Beyonce' Brings Stage Classic to Film." You've got to be kidding me! Jennifer brought stage classic to film. What's up with that?

Just curious to know how you all think Jennifer feels about that. I even think Oprah was foul for allowing Beyonce to come out before Jennifer when she had the cast on her show. Jennifer was the main character.

A few minutes ago (at the hairdresser's), someone mentioned that if B was gonna appear on Oprah, she was to perform "Listen". This is all rumor, but I would not be surprised if it is true.

She can't read music? Writing words/lyrics has nothing to do with being able to read notes etc. She may not be able to read a music sheet, but I'm sure she can READ words that turn into lyrics. LOL

(Maybe I misunderstood the post by stardusttwin)

That rumor must have been valid because she did perform "Listen" when she was on Oprah two weeks ago.

Yeah. That was the rebroadcast. We wondered why Jennifer didn't perform and thought maybe it had something to do with waiting until the GG or the Oscars to do so. But, the rumor seems like it would accurate.

You didn't misunderstand - we just may not agree. The award is suppossed to be for creating the best original song not for singing it - otherwise it would be named best performance of a song. Look at how the other nominees are listed. The girl can't read or write music so why are they fronting on the credits? They might have been able to get away with it if they listed her as a contributor to the lyrics only. I just get tired of all these young "singers" who cant' be bothered to learn their craft. James Brown death reminded me how short the artist of today really are compared to generations past (now his personal life was a mess but he was a musician).

Nooooo. I was posting about you saying Prince "outting" Beyonce because she could not read music, therefore questioning her writing ability.
