Auburn Greeks

I thought that Bama thread was so informative that's I'd start another for Auburn.

question: I looked pretty much everywhere and can't find any sorority houses. Where are they??

https://oitapps.auburn.edu/campusmap/

question: In that top left area where some frats are. I see 2 buildings for Sigma Nu and for Pi Kappa Alpha. What is that? Just another little annex or something? (Bottom left has the same kind of setup for Alpha Gamma Rho, Pi kappa Phi, and Beta)

There are no sorority houses at AU. They have dorm buildings located on the Hill. (The area known as the hill is that containing dorms such as Sasnett, Boyd, Leischuck, Duncan, Graves, etc...)

The 2 buildings you're seeing are the main fraternity house and separate party barns. Some houses have them separate from the main structure, and some are integrated into the house.

Hm, I was thinking that LXA built new house there but cannot find pixs of it. As I remember, it was very big and very nice. They are updating their web site at the moment!

Wow... Just.. Party Barns you say?

We pretty much had to just clear out the main living area and build a stage for the band to play on. Party Barn. BRILLIANT!

Is there any specific reason why the sororities have no houses and the fraternities do?

The reason there are not houses at AU is that the all the houses would have to be built at the same time...there is talk about a sorority complex (duplex type buildings, I believe) in the near future

And really, if there was no expectation of having a house and you already had a pretty nice dorm suite with individual rooms as nice or nicer than most houses (suite arranged with a bath), would you want to undertake the additional expense?

Since all the groups are in the same boat, it really works pretty well.

The dorms work fine there. Living in dorms keeps dues way down and the AU chapter rooms are nice. I visited several other chapters when I was an active and some of them had great houses but I could see that we saved ourselves a lot of problems by not having them.

They are building new sorority housing in the form of nicer apt/suite style dorms (I believe) where the old CDV was located. It would be right next to Old Row beginning at the corner of Hemlock and West Mag.
