question...

i am interested in pledging a soririty at my school... BUT...

there is a member who i knew from h.s. who is sort of snobbish and probably doesnt want me pledging. how much power does 1 member have? what if the member is an older sister? holds a position? i have never done anything to her and she has no real reason to dislike me, so how strongly does this issue impact my chances of getting a bid?
