University of Florida, Epsilon-Mu Launches New Site!
Greetings,
We have rolled out a big update for our web site and re-launched this past week, on the heels of Spring 2007 Recruitment week.
You'll be happy to know that this past year was amazing for us as a brotherhood. Lambda Chi Alpha, Epsilon-Mu won IFC 2006 Chapter of the Year (as reported by OFSFA website), IFC 2006 Outstanding Philanthropy of the Year, our former president for 2006, Brian Towers, was the recipient of the Greek Man of the Year, and our alumnus Tony Dunn was recognized by the University of Florida, Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs as 2006 Outstanding Alumnus. We had numerous current brothers in runner-up positions and proudly represented our chapter at the Greek Awards banquet last month! The current administration and I think we have finally hit the nail on the head with our latest roll-out, version 5 (Jan. 16 2007). (Version four won us an award at the Lambda Chi Alpha General Assembly in Orlando this past July, so we were on the right track!)
With literally hundreds of hours of work voluntarily logged over the last year, the one thing I did notice that I couldn't adjust was the lack of penetration of our news/content in others lives. Our website has mostly been an underutilized resource and just another recurring bill. Previous versions of our site were built around the mindset that we only need the site just for one week, and that's to sell to the new freshman the benefits of joining our bond versus another down the street. I personally thought that we should expect more from ourselves as a prominent entity on campus, and our respective representation online. After all, a professionally designed site can speak miles about an organization - this we all know. So why can't we also be a news source? A source of opinion? Perhaps an online philanthropic outlet? I've redesigned uflambdachi.org with these higher goals in mind, but with it's recent deployment, I have yet to see what will come of my work: time will tell.
I'd like all of your help! I think Epsilon-Mu can become a stronger resource through the addition of new articles/news from more diverse outlets: brothers like you. I've built the foundation of our site upon the popular blogging software Wordpress and can readily make available Author and/or Contributor accounts, where you can easily login and submit articles to be posted online. I realize that I might be the first to try something like this but I'm an optimist!
I think it'd be a great opportunity to gain fresh insight in what it means to be a brother after we've left the college walls, would be invaluable to members (new and old) to learn of Lambda Chi Alpha in a more national limelight, and most of all would be a great way to network and establish a few more friendships! I'd love to chat and get you writing. I'm not looking for an enormous contribution. Maybe an article once a month, just as long as there's some level of consistency.
Finally, sorry for the long rant. I get all long-winded and verbose when I talk about my chapter's future and especially when I reach out for help! I think sometimes I care too much...
Note: Since we've just launched, content for our new website is not completely ready or placed yet.

Brother EJ,
an excellent beginning and looking forward to seeing the new additions.
Congratulations on a job well done.
By the way, where did you get the C of A picture at the top of the site?

Thanks guys! The more input the better!
As far as the photo is concerned, I wasn't satisfied with the random Lambda Chi images strewn across cyberspace, so I broke out my camera and photographed the award we won at GA last year. (For you photography aficionados, aperture size of my HP camera is F2.8 - F4.8 / F8 - which wasn't much to work with but still produced some amazing stills.) Add a few Photoshop enhancements/filters and voila! I'll see if I can get around to posting the full shots.

EJ, congratulations on the award!
If anyone is interested, please check past Cross and Crescent and see the monument sign with Coat of Arms on it of the LX Z, Pittsburg State University, Kansas.
I may be able to order them for anyone interested at a cost and shipping.
The more that are interested of course, the price will go down.
