There's a fair amount of houses that have actual snakes, but the vast majority don't as far as I know... It'd be pretty damn cool to have one. I know the UF colony is looking to get one sometime soon.

Delta Mu (Stetson) used to have like 10 snakes in the house, but we only have one at the moment. Most of the guys with snakes graduated/transfered and only one brother has gotten a snake since then. I'm moving into the house next semester, and might get a snake just to continue the tradition.

We used to all bust out our snakes at the same time during parties and large gatherings, which usually got us some laughs and a few strange looks. I found that most girls seemed to like them while a small percentage thought they were the creepiest things ever.

I know the guys at the UF house were looking to get a snake, but the commander and a few of the other guys were pretty against it, for "personal" reasons, I guess you could say... haha

There's a funny story behind our snake...over the summer we were hanging out and decided to move a couch outside so more people could sit and so we did, and like a minute later somebody looked over and saw a snake crawling around where the couch had been, so we caught it and named it "The Couch" now its in an aquarium in our garage.

At the Zeta Phi house (Bradley Univ.) we have a large pet snake in the middle of the house in a plexi-glass cubicle. Through my four years we had two. One died after it was stolen and abused/not taken care of by Sigs. And the other one snuck out on its own and was never found. Grateful I slept in a bunk when he was MIA.

Our chapter has a tradition its been doing for at least 10 years now where the snakes are named after famous SNU's. Harrison and Riley were the mascots in my time (Harrison Ford and Pat Riley).
