14 year old child died a day after being hit, kicked, kneed and restrained by guards

Did you all hear about this case? Can you believe no arrests have been made? What are your thoughts?

Right, I believe major portions of the protesters are students from FAMU. The mother did get a meeting to speak with Governor Bush and was surprised that he wanted to speak with her. Mr. Bush stated that he wanted this issue ended quickly but did not guarantee justice however; he did seem apologetic. It was discussed this morning on the Russ Parr Morning Show.

I believe this is the same case where they tried to say the boy died because he had the sickle cell trait that led to his internal bleeding. I think the coroner reversed that ruling and changed this to murder or intentional death.

The shame is that even with a videotape and the reversal from the coroner....no arrests have been made. The parents and attorney were on the Today show several weeks ago when the coroner reversed its ruling.

Its seems that the fact that he was a "bad kid" somehow justifies beating him death. The force was excessive. The video shows about 6-7 grown men and a female nurse surrounding this kid who couldn't have been more than 150 pounds soaking wet.

Right so they did reverse the coroner report? I think that is what the rally is about at the Capitol because without that there was no murder or intentional homicide. That is why they wanted to get the report changed so that they could produce some indictments.

Oh, I thought they did that already, but I'm probably wrong. I thought someone said the rally was to encourage the arrest. I guess that all goes hand in hand. You gotta have a murder ruling to arrest anyone.

Its sad and shameful.

Martin Lee Anderson

How timely. I just, 5 minutes ago, came from the March. I've been doing some pro-bono research on this case with the law firm representing the parents of Martin Lee Anderson. Of course the usual suspects, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were in attendance. The protest was mainly held because it has over 100 days and none of the people involved have been arrested or even suspended w/o pay. It's ridiculous. Also, we are demanding that the autopsy results be revealed. More later.

After taking pics with students, they led the march. Then when we made it to the state capitol they gave speeches. As we were leaving, they announced that the Governor called them during the rall and that they were meeting with him at that time. I will post if there is any new developments. The speeches were good, but the best was current FAMU vice-president/president elect Phillip Agnew (I think is his name). He's really dynamic, too bad I had to get a little crunk with him before the march, LOL. It was a pretty uplifting march though. Lots of participation from FAMU and FSU students.

ETA: Look for me on the news and in the newspapers FSU Black Law Students Association was on the front line. Many cameras. A reporter from the Tampa Tribune is supposed to call to interview me this afternoon.

Great work. Soror do you thang. AKAs representing. Keep us posted on developments. Unfortunately this case is not getting as much press and the Duke Allegations so the public isn't really informed.

I just wanted to add that the tapes of the beating that you see on the internet are EXTREMELY edited. The content isn't but, the footage online is about 3 minutes whereas the real tape was 40 minutes long.
Martin Lee Anderson's parents and sister seem to be holding up well considering. I think that they are comforted knowing that the local community is behind them. Please keep them in your prayers.

I will. What site has the taping of the beating? I would like to inform others of this issue because I don't think everyone is well informed on this issue.

Oh, yeah...another thing that everyon is angry about is that the person who performed the original autopsy is supposedly unlicensed. So they had to exume the child's body to do another autopsy. Those are the results that are being kept sealed. You can see the video of the boot camp, and video of the family speaking here

Remember that the original tape is over 40 minutes long.

If you google search "florida boot camp beating" you'll get hits where the video is available.
