Lightbulb USF Panhellenic Creed

So I was wandering around the USF panhellenic website (http://ctr.usf.edu/greeklife/Pan/creed.html), reminiscing about undergraduate sorority life, and I found their copy of the Panhellenic Creed, which we had to recite at all of the UF Panhellenic meetings. 'Hey,' I thought to myself, 'let's see if I still remember the words!' I did, mostly, but that's not the point of the story. The last line read, "The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenant by which we strive to live."

...tenant? Really? I live by tenants! They rent the apartment next door!

When I was done laughing, I called their Greek Affairs office and told them it was misspelled. The girl in the office was very polite and apologetic, and told me she'd have it fixed. The next day, it read "is the tenat by which we strive to live." Which was still wrong, but at least they tried, right? I guess they figured out it was wrong, too, though, because they changed it back to 'tenant'.

Of course, the correct version is available on the NPC website, and all they'd have to do is copy and paste it to their website, but whatever. They don't have a Sigma Kappa chapter, or you can bet I'd be calling up the president of that chapter and begging her to bring it up at the next Panhellenic meeting just for laughs.

This makes a nice companion piece to the NPC/IFC/individual chapter sites that instruct "perspective members" on how to join.

Or maybe I should say "chapter sights."

Isn't the operative word "tenet"?

All right, I went to the Southeastern Panhellenic Conference's webpage(http://www.sepconline.org/), and they have it spelled as 'tenant' as well. Good heavens!
