Amish School Shooting

At least six people are dead after a man entered a one-room Amish school house and opened fire before shooting himself.

More news is being released... it's getting more and more twisted.

A teacher at the school called police around 10:36 a.m., saying that hostages had been taken, said Miller. Miller said officers responded and that Roberts, who was armed with an automatic handgun and a shotgun, could easily see them. Miller said Roberts had forced many of the children to line up against the blackboard and that he bound their feet with wire ties and flex cuffs. Miller said that it appears when Roberts shot the children, they were shot execution style.

Oh good lord...

and reading this article here makes me pissed. This is about cutting the funding for school safety.

As much as I'm a conservative, I DON'T get why the Bush admin has the cut the funding while shootings seem to get worse...

My prayers go with the victims family....

I guess now's not an appropriate time for a Rumspringa reference, huh?

Seriously...Amish shooting??

This is crazy....the Amish!?!?!

These incidents stem way further than your basic school safety. Something is wrong with our society period. Human life means nothing...

And this is the second one where females/girls were targeted.

While I agree with your comments, I doubt that this would make much difference in an Amish one room school.

Some of the first pictures from the scene are really amazing -- modern patrol cars parked next to horse and buggys.

These situations are really sick.

Just to clarify something: Shooter was NOT Amish. Seems as if the school was "just convenent" for him.

You are so right. I just heard the Commissioner give a list of things the perp had purchased within the last few days, and by the amount of KY jelly he purchased, he was one sick puppy. Also, if you remember that he made a mention of something that happened twenty years ago? He molested several young (I think he said "cousins") at that time.

Ten girls - five are dead, and one is in very critical condition. I could cry.

The actions of one sick individual don't say anything about society not valuing human life. If anything, the majority's outcry of disbelief proves the contrary.

Maybe b/c only a very, very small number of shootings occur each year and it has been determined that event SWAT teams and metal detectors would not have made a difference? Or that school shootings have become significantly less prevalent?

There is a thread in DST Blvd called "Say What" (we're on version 4 now) that you should visit. Sadly its more than just one or two sick individuals. Violence against woman and children are becoming more commonplace. And that says something about our society in general.

How the hell can you shoot an Amish person?

Not that every school shooting isn't sick but this one is even above and beyond!!!
