Torchbearers of a Legacy
I am currently reading Torchbearers of a Legacy. A powerful and dynamic book.
Most Honourable Soror Tyler-Goings two quotes holds dear to my heart
1) "I could not become a friend's maid in order to pledge. I thought that.... active interest should surpass submissiveness." She had friends in both existing sororities. Most Honourable Soror Tyler-Goings has an excellent point. How do you know if an aspirant is strong if she is always submissive?
2) "[In the ideal college situation], a Zeta is a girl regardless of race, creed or color who has high standards and principles, a good scholary average, and an active interest in all things that she undertakes to accomplish."
I have not finish the entire book, but I must say that we have very powerful sorors who have made it possible for our sorority to grow and remain strong.
Thank you to our Founding sorors, Arizona Cleaver Stemmons, Pearl Anna Neal, Viola Tyler Goings, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, and Fannie Pettie Watts.
Thank you past grand basilei, Soror Ruth Scruggs, Soror Violette Anderson, and Soror Lullelia Harrison, for widing the roads of opportunities for more women to find the Zeta way
To our current grand basileus, Soror Barbara West Carpenter, Thank you for introducing the Seven Point Plan of Action to Zeta Phi Beta.
If you have not read this book, then you must read it.
