ESPN's 30 for 30: The Fab Five

GC doesn't have a sports forum....

I know I'm not the only one who watched ESPN's Fab Five "documentary" this past Sunday.

The full video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G3W2...layer_embedded

There's tons of responses to the documentary including:

I have seen the documentary this past sunday. it was very good. I appreciate the fact that Jalen Rose took the time to explain his statement on why he hated Duke ( Also give Jalen credit for going to ESPN's big wigs to clear the air on his comments before showing the film).

As for that "timeout", it was a spur of the moment Chris Webber did after he claims someone told him to do that. I really believe Michigan would have won the championship had that "timeout" wasn't called.

I feel ya. I also agree with Whitlock's take on the whole thing. His article is the first one that I linked.

The Fab Five have notoriety and I thoroughly enjoyed the "documentary." Do I believe that they are the most kick-ass and notable batch of recruits in NCAA history? Definitely not. They certainly aren't the group that I relished over when I was younger and I relish over now when I think of NCAA players (not just the team but the players). I much more preferred Georgetown with Ewing and, afterwards, Mourning. I not only loved how they played the game but I used to love how Mourning, et al used to literally run the opposing team off of the court. Hoya Paranoia. LOL.

That isn't to take anything away from The Fab Five but any self-celebration (the documentary was executive produced by Jalen) will receive a range of responses from people.

Whitlock's global point (that the doc should have been about Georgetown) is right on point - in fact, the 30 for 30 on Iverson basically did just that, even while digging into his preferential treatment (sort of point/counterpoint, although the agenda of the producer got awkward at the end).

However, Jason Whitlock's grasp of irony is either the best or worst in history. Thanks for making sweeping, grandiose statements talking about how ridiculous it was for the Fab 5 to make sweeping, grandiose statements, Guy Who Writes About Sports For A Living.

LOL. I would love to read some examples of Whitlock's sweeping, grandiose statements. Perhaps the difference is that this show was presented as a documentary whereas Whitlock must know that he mixes a few facts with huge editorialism and opinion.

It is easy to see why Black America is in the toilet. Most blacks consider positive character traits which as acting white. Blacks do not want to act white so they do the opposite.
SMH.

To respond to this would be a waste of my time.

You lost your woman to a black dude. GET OVER IT. Putting it all out on Facebook doesn't help either.
