Holy crap! It's true! Full article here: http://www.forbes.com/business/healt...ap2991321.html

Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous bard on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.

"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.

Crew members aboard the boat, Croc One, called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to nearby Low Isle to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead when they arrived a short time later, Stainton said.

I remember one time watching his ass mess with this big arse python in the tree. And the snake kept hissing and charging at him. I was thinking to myself, one day, one of those animals is going to catch his behind off guard.

I'm not surprised that he was killed that way, but I do feel bad. He was fun to watch.

WOW, I was wondering what animal was going to take him out. It's sad he died, but I'm sure that's the way he would have liked to go. The kidlets are going to miss him and the show if they decide to keep it going.

Did he really think he was going to retire from this job? I mean, you're playing with WILD animals! Emphasis on the WILD part.

I wasn't suprised he was killed in this manner. Well, at least he died doing something he loved.

True...

Steve Irwin dying from an animal is about as surprising as Hugh Hefner dying from making "sweeeeeeeet luv".

I'm totally shocked. I thought it would have been from a more ferocious animal like an elephant, lol. j/k. More like a croc or something.

I feel bad that he died. I feel differently about people who get killed while minding their business that I do about people who are 'tempting fate'.

He has a really young child. I feel for his family.
