10 Things Every Man Needs ??????
Article on MSN
According to MSN:
1) WHITE OXFORD BUTTON-DOWN SHIRT: The white button-down can be worn with a suit and tie, on its own with a pair of jeans, or underneath a sweater. May we suggest: Cotton button-down shirt ($40) by Izod.
2) LIGHTWEIGHT CASHMERE V-NECK SWEATER: A thin cashmere sweater can be worn every month save for August. Goes with jeans or underneath a suit jacket. May we suggest: Cashmere V-neck ($178) by Banana Republic.
3) SUNGLASSES: Obvious for their functionality (that whole sun-in-the-eyes thing), but also necessary as an accessory that adds the all-important final touch. May we suggest: Sunglasses ($174) by Persol.
4) A DARK PAIR OF JEANS: Make sure they are crisp and able to be worn with a T-shirt, button-down, or the jacket from your suit. May we suggest: Vintage "Capital E" jeans ($178) by Levi's.
5) ONE SET OF CEDAR SHOE TREES: You need only one pair, to keep your just-worn shoes in good shape. May we suggest: Cedar shoe trees ($60) by Zegna.
6) WHITE T-SHIRTS: Sleep in them, wear them to the gym, or use them underneath a shirt or sweater. May we suggest: Cotton T-shirts ($30 for a pack of three) by Calvin Klein.
7) BLACK LACE-UPS: Clean, dressy black lace-up shoes will work with any color suit and still look at home at the foot of your jeans. May we suggest: Leather lace-up shoes ($495) by Tod's.
8) OVERNIGHT BAG: Because a man never knows when he might have to flee at a moment's notice, make sure it's big enough to carry two nights' worth of stuff. May we suggest: Taiga-leather Kendall bag ($1,510) by Louis Vuitton.
9) THREE-BUTTON NAVY SUIT: Navy is the most versatile color for a man's suit. Extend its life by wearing it with a shirt and tie, or wear just the jacket with jeans and a button-down. May we suggest: Three-button wool suit ($1,595) by Canali.
10) MEDIUM-WIDTH TIE: If it's too skinny or too fat, you limit the types of shirts you can wear with it. A medium width, in a neutral color and pattern, has the most versatility. May we suggest: Silk tie ($95) by Jack Spade.

Grand total of necessities? $4355! What??
Now, my husband has most of the stuff on the list, but I'd be surprised if he spent $435.50 on all of it. Although if you add his socks into it, I think it shoots the $$ up closer to $500. His one weakness is brand name socks. I don't know why.

I think my boyfriend has everything but the navy suit on that list!! I love how they always suggest the most expensive stuff possible. Stuff like Canali is top of line. But overall, good suggestions....

Exactly, and lower-line stuff will cost less. It doesn't mean it will cost exactly that much for those clothes. You can go even more expensive in some of the categories, such as swapping a Canali or Stefano Ricci tie, or going with a nicer white oxford.
Since money isn't always there for me, when I've had the chance, I've spent more on a couple of nice suits, shirts and ties. I consider them investment pieces; I'm not going to change body shape/type anytime soon, the clothes will last, and I'll be able to present myself well in social/business situations.

Not all of the things that they listed are that expensive. Maybe it's just me, but I've never considered Izod to be particularly expensive or a brand that sticks out when it comes to men's shirts.

OK, I thought this list was going to be something like this:
1. A clue
2. Good friends that will tell you when the girl you're checking out is a nutjob
3. A clue
4. Stuff that makes you smell good (be it cologne, soap or your own particular scent
5. A clue
6. Everything by the Beatles
7. Everything by (insert classic rock artist of your choice here)
8. Everything by (insert obscure artist that you can namedrop to impress people here)
9. At least one pair of beat up jeans that you look really hot in
10. A clue
(sorry if this post is depressing Bobby...I tried)

I disagree on the navy. I think charcoal is a better bet.
Canali is great. Best to get at the men's sale at Bloomies. Then you can get 30% off- when my hubby gets his stuff. Yes, it is pricey, but you cannot match it for quality. ANd, in his profession, you need to look successful and appropriate.
Louis Vuitton- um, no. My hubby wouldn't be caught dead with.
Everything else, I can agree on.

My boyfriend has the sunglasses and the white t-shirts, but I know he would never go near the rest of the stuff on that list. I think he'd like 33girl's list better!

Yeah, I kind of thought Izod was an odd choice when paired with some of the other brands on the list. Also, if you're looking for a nice cashmere sweater, Banana isn't where I would go.

I think they meant to headline it, "10 Things Every Metrosexual Needs." (Except, of course, there's no "product" on the list.)
I mean, granted, I own most of the stuff on the list. (No V-neck Cashmere sweater because, well just because I can't think of any reason I would want one, and no navy suit because PinkandGreenJ is right that charcoal is more useful than navy. I have quite a few suits, and not one is navy.)
But when they throw the "May We Suggests" in there -- the idea that any non-Metrosexual male would spend $1,510 on a Taiga-leather Kendall bag by Louis Vuitton borders on laughable.
Also laughable was this line: "A thin cashmere sweater can be worn every month save for August." Yeah -- I'm wearing a sweater on a 100-degree day in June or July, because I want to look like an idiot.

This is pretty much what I was getting at.

Only if you have FMA embroidered on it.

1. cold beer
2. meat
3. $10 gas-station/truck-stop aviators
4. a favorite pair of jeans
5. a ball-cap
6. flip-flops
7. a tour t-shirt of your favorite rock band
8. a belt
9. a phone
10. friends you can call with #9 to consume #1 & 2 with you in the sunshine, while using items #3-8 (a few of these friends may be females that you end up having sex with, ruining your friendship and making you find new girls for the crew.)
grand total: $150-$200.

I think John Hart or Orvis bags would be better for a man. King Ranch as well. Leave the Louis Vuitton to women and P Diddy.

If my SO ever came home in a cashmere V-neck sweater or carrying a Louis Vuitton bag, I think I'd sent him back outside to think about it, lol.

I thought this list would have the all-important necessity:
A WIFE WHO ISN'T SO BIG AND FAT THAT SHE COULD SMOTHER YOU DURING SEX.
