Just moved to Chicago!! :o)

Hi everyone!

I just moved to Chicago about 3 weeks ago for work and for family from Nashville. I work right on Michigan Ave and I am looking for a place to live and new people to get to know. Right now, I am living with family but would like to find my own place soon.

If anyone knows anyone looking for a roomate or leaving a great apartment, please have them contact me!!! nmk2a@mtsu.edu

And if anyone would like to get together, please contact me too.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far...

Nicole

Can't help with the apartment hunt, but congratulations on moving to Chicago. It's a great city.

Hi Nicole,

I live in Chicago, just south of downtown in an area called Bronzeville. Where on Michigan avenue are you? I'm on 31st Street.

I'd recommend that you check out neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Bucktown, and Wrigleyville. This is where many of my co-workers live, and they seem to like it. If you are looking for an area that's a bit more diverse, then check out Hyde Park. This is south (55th Street) along the lake. It includes the campus of the University of Chicago.

Also, if you are looking to buy then the South and West loop areas are rapidly appreciating. These areas are already getting expensive, but you can still find places for reasonable prices that will be worth quite a bit down the line.

The Chicago Reader is the best place to find apartments.

I haven't lived in Chicago for a few years now, but isn't Pilsen the new Wicker Park? Chinatown is next.

I had lunch at 401 today! I go there quite a bit. They have a really good cafeteria.

And of course there's the big golf thing in front of the building today!

If you are looking for an apartment in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area, try the apartment finding agency called North Clybourn Group. It's free and they helped me find a really nice apartment in my price range on very short notice. They specialize in that area of Chicago. There are also a ton more free apartment finding agencies in Chicago. I was recommended to this one by a friend and they were awesome!!!

ok... I'll end the free publicity!!!

I just moved to Chicago in May and so far I'm loving every bit of it!!! It's an awesome city, granted it's also the only major city I've ever lived in.

I agree! We were there last month for convention, and WOW - I never expected to love the city as much as I did! We hopefully will go as a family next spring for vacay (if they can pull me away from Disney that is)

Congrats & best of luck!!
