Emory Sigma Chi's family wins $5 mil suit
In 1999, Emory senior and Sigma Chi Vince Currid was convicted of drunk driving, fined, and ordered to "community service" which in the Atlanta suburb meant garbage pick-up. Given no training or equipment, Currid fell off the back of the truck as it rounded a corner, and died a month later.
The Sigma Chis raised $15,000 at the time for a memorial fund.
This week, the family's suit resulted in a $5.1 million verdict.
The govt. is going to appeal.
