You should DEFINITELY do it. Dave Stollman is far and away one of the best speakers on recruitment. He is our main speaker at our national convention this year. He does LOTS of work with fraternities and is very open to listening to your problems and working with you to fix them. And I don't work for Campus Speak, but I saw part of his presentation at Recruitment Boot Camp last summer in Philadelphia, and it was awesome. Many of the collegiates left with a whole new perspective on recruitment!

Last fall we had David Stollman come in from CampusSpeak. I think he might be the one who does the recruitment boot camp. He's a cool guy and knows what he's talking about.

ANY CHAPTER WHO HAS THE CHANCE TO SEND A MEMBER SHOULD SEND ONE
Tri Delta sponsered one of the first RBC weekends at UTA and I went for my chapter. It was a GREAT presentation, and had workshops that are actually usable. David does great presentations on getting quality members, how to actual implement recruitment on a year round bases, and how to get "liars" (those people, like myself, who say ' i'll never join a sorority')
if given the chance- GO

Advisors?
Have any advisors been to the one-day session and found it helpful?

I am going to the advisor's session in Indianapolis this year, and we are sending 5 undergraduates from SIUE.

I've been, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Dave Stollman specializes in fraternity recruitment, but many of the strategies he discusses are applicable to sororities as well. Alot of them are particularly beneficial to COB/informal sorority recruitment.

Heres a factoid for you all -
Recruitment Boot Camp started as a program designed for Phi Sig, under a different name - we didnt get the rights or something to keep it exclusivly ours and there ya go...
Now everyone knows to make sure you keep your own programs!
(I found this out this past year!)

I would reccomend going to David Stollman's presentation if you can. Doesn't CampusSpeak offer session open to anyone during the summer? He does an amazing job integrating his message in a way that truly gets at the audience. I'm also a huge fan of his "Buy In or Get Out" program. Before you reinvent the wheel, I would try to find funding to get this program on your campus or see it somewhere.

I have attended the Recruitment Boot Camp as a Staff Member for SAM and have also had the opportunity to see parts of it taught at our Convention.
I also facilitated it this past summer @ Purdue University.
Dave & Elliot do good job of using motivational tactics in encouraging students to recruit but i think a great deal of the material is pretty basic.
That being said - it continues to run and many colleges and national affiliations continue to use them for conferences and conventions.

Dave Stollman is AMAZING. He's seriously worth it...so funny, and he really gets it. Seriously, you won't regret it. He spoke at our convention this year, and it was really, really good.

AEPhi just had Recruitment Boot Camp as the center of our Summer Leadership Conference. As an alum I didn't attend the whole program but we were given a fairly in depth summary so we would be able to assist in implementaton. It really seems like a great program and I particularly like that it can easily be applied to smaller chapters as well as large ones. I know the chapters I work with were very excited about it and I can't wait to see how it pans out this year.

Those of you that have gone to RBC -
was it just chapters from your campus,
just chapters from your organization,
or a centrally located thing w/ people from all different groups and all different locations?
