Recruitment at IU-Bloomington

Any IU-ers here that can tell me about recruitment?

One of my campers from church camp is going there this fall and wants to participate in recruitment (which from what I understand doesn't start til January).

I've heard that quota there is NOT set like other schools set it (by number of PNMs going through). Is this still the case?

Also, are recs something she should get? I figured I'd ask now so she can have time to get them before January if they're required.

Any insight about IU would be appreciated

Jocelyn, the first round of recruitment is 19-party in December. These are the Open House type parties. The invitational rounds start in January. That said your friend should try to get recs now. They can't hurt.

As far as I know, they do not use the quota system at IUB. Each chapter determines how many PNMs they wish to take and as long as it doesn't put them over chapter total. So, some chapters may take 12 and others may take 50, it all depends.

The number of women in which each sorority may pledge during the formal recruitment process. (IU sororities base their quota on house capacity and the number of women going abroad or living out of the chapter house. Panhellenic does not set one quota for all 19 chapters.)
