Pilates DVDs

I want to start doing pilates the days I don't go to the gym or the days I don't feel like dealing with the drive to the gym (too much traffic). What are some of the best pilates DVDs that you've tried?

This one is pretty good. It's divided into 3 10-min workouts. The instructor is a lot less annoying then most DVD instructors.

I agree with AlphaFrog-I love love love the Crunch pilates DVD's with Ellen Barrett as the instructor. She really is less annoying than most instructors I've come across!

Also, for the beginner, I think that Pilates for Dummies is a really good place to start. (Especially if you haven't taken a class before.) Now I use the 20 minute standing portion of Pilates for Dummies as a warm-up & then turn to my Crunch pilates DVD's for a workout.

I thought Pilates was easy...boy was I mistaken! I have Pilates for Dummies and it was a bit challenging...just showed me just how "out of shape" I am...especially the last exercise...but I'm still doing it so that I can become a pro at it - combined with Walk Away the Pounds, Crunch Workouts, and The Firm...I should reach my goal.

I actually have the Winsor Pilates DVD's & they are great. I like to vary mine up by one day doing the basic 20 minute workout. Other days, I'll do the full hour plus throw in the ones that focus on the abs or upper body.

My pilates instructor says the Winsor are the best in terms of workout and proper form/instruction.

My insturctor was trained by Joseph Pilates protege - Ramana Kryzanowska - so I trust her!

Are you referring to Denise Austin? My roommate last year did her pilates work-outs to the Denise Austin DVDs. I had to sit in my room with the door closed whenever she was watching the DVD because Denise's voice would make me shudder.

Yes. She would be #1 on an extremely long list. I remember one of my friends in highschool calling me quite frequently "Jess, can I come over, mom's doing Denise Austin again."
