The Devil Wears Prada

I just checked this out from the library after being on the waiting list for almost three months. Who all read it? Who liked/disliked it?

Mixed reaction

For some reason, I like unlikable characters. But Andrea, the protagonist, didn't really do it for me. She seemed a bit whiny at times.

Miranda, the boss, had me LOL. I've read a lot about Anna Wintour, the Vogue editrix who Miranda's based on, and I think Weisberger's got her down fairly well.

Re: Mixed reaction

I loved it. It was a fun, fast (almost too fast) read. I especially loved the stylist at the magazine. You know, the one who ALWAYS SHOUTED, AND SAID THINGS LIKE "WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE!!!"

Instead of reading this feminist jargon, you should all read Arnold's body building book.

I loved it! I bought it over the summer for really cheap at Sam's Club, and since then I've read it twice. That Ms. Priestly...I tell you, she cracked me up. The sad thing is, there's really people like that! If you liked this book, you should also check out The Nanny Diaries...it's kinda the same thing, you know, poor little innocent girl (in this case a nanny) gets the privilege of working for the boss from Hades.

I am going to be the only guy...

...but who cares, I read it. I went on vacation w/ my girlfriends family this summer, and forgot my book. I read The Nanny Diaries and this in one week. I liked both of them. I am not ashamed!

Would you mind posting the books on your list here? We might have similar taste in books and I'm dying for some new reads!

Thanks

It's about a girl who works as an assistant to a Magazine Editor who is a real b*tch on wheels, hence the title, "The Devil Wears Prada", cuz the devil is her boss, yes? The b*tch woman is apparently based on VOGUE's Anna Wintour who is apparently supposed to be a BIATCH in real life, if ever there was one.

I read I Don't Know How She Does It a few weeks ago on the train to and from Philly...it was a good book, on a similar thread of the other books. It just reminded me that there is NO way that I could work full time with children!
