Underrated dishes

My favorite type of dish is so underrated that I didn't know that it even existed until I was 22. A couple of people in my fraternity didn't know what it was before last fall, where it was served at a project. I cannot find it at any typical restaurant. Now I understand why chain restaurants are hated by some people.

There several varieties of the dish but it is mostly known as 'pesto pasta'.

LOL I totally thought this was going to be a thread making fun of people who discuss china patterns.

Oh well.

Pesto kicks ass. You know what's really good? If you mix pesto with ricotta, put it on some Italian or French bread, cover with sliced or sun-dried tomatoes and roasted pine nuts, and broil. OMG.

Dude when I saw the title of this thread, I totally expected it to be The Gravy Boat Appreciation Thread, or something of the sort.

I dunno, while in N. Ireland/ Scotland, I developed a HUGE appreciation for curries/ Indian food. I love spicy food, and indian food tends to have these layers of spice, it's not hot just for the sake of being hot, you can taste each seasoning as you eat, and it is extremely aromatic food. I had this awesome Indian buffet in Galway city right before my marathon...man that place was good.

good old meatloaf and mashed potatoes are underrated. so is mac and cheese. but i am talking about the homemade kind of comfort food-not out of the blue box.

My favorite dish is a Low-Country Boil.

Now, if you're not from the coastal South, you probably read that and said, "Huh?" It's basically where you throw shrimp, sausage, corn, and new potatoes into a huge pot with some seasoning and boil 'em. Soooo good.

(Also, my mother collects old Fiesta...ha ha.)
