Research Help - Pitt Sororities!!!

Hey could one of you great researchers with a Bairds possibly find out what sororities were at Pitt between 1915 and 1920-ish era?

My great great aunt was in a sorority at Pitt during that time (ish) she was born in 1900.

We were looking for her badge, but we dont think we have it here - its prob at my grandmas.

I know shes not a Phi Sig because we checked records, and Iota wasnt there at that time!

I believe Tri Sigma has a chapter there also.

Ali, if you want to PM me her name, I can check out my alumnae directory. If she was ever a member, even way back when, her name would be listed there.

Yes, just after AngelPhiSig's time period. The rest are/were:

1924 Phi Sigma Sigma
1949 Sigma Sigma Sigma
1950 Sigma Delta Theta

Kappa Alpha Theta went inactive in the 1990's.

Killarney Rose - looking at old yearbooks, there were a LOT of locals during 1915-1925, most of which went NPC. I know that ADPi was a local from around 1915, but didn't become Alpha Delta Pi until 1920.

BTW, one of the things I love the most about your suite is the picture of the Founders!

AEPhi's Nu chapter was founded there in May 1920. Don't know why that wasn't in Baird's

It is in Baird's - one of us should have picked that up earlier - our bad.

I know that ADPi's founding at Pitt was in February, and AEPhi, KD, and Phi Mu were all founded the same year (1920). I got to know our Founder when she was in her final illness, and she told me that, after the first local became an NPC sorority, it was a rush for the other locals to choose the NPC sorority that they wanted, and for the NPC sororities to choose the locals. She likened it to the Gold Rush!

AngelPhiSig, if you're still trying to find your relative, PM me her name, and I'll check our records, too.
