Creating a Better Beta Sigma Phi

Hi sisters! I know in other threads we have begun discussing some ideas to make Beta Sigma Phi better such as the governing body being made up of sisters, an International conference, and better support and media. What other ideas do you have?

Lightbulb Ideas...

Ask International to assist us with seating a focus group to study how we can all work together to save Sorority;

Get information on trends, demographics, etc that relate to women and recent trends on groups and activities that women seem to be interested in and joining;

Find ways to make Sorority "attractive" to women of ALL ages;

JUNK the website and build a new one;

Spice up RUSH.

Awesome!

Thanks Rachel! Those are some great ideas! Do you think International will go for a focus group? I think that would be great way to go!
You're awesome, sis!

I agree with a raise in dues too as long as the extra revenue is allocated properly.

Amen to that. The raise needs to be spent wisely.

inthe effort to make more BSP's aware of this plan or idea, I think it would be good for postings to be made on the yahoo beta sigma phi group. i'm in my nursing school computer lab so i dont have the link for that on me but I believe there is a link to it in beta links on international's website to get there and get ont eh list.

There is also an option there where you can subscribe to the digest which combines all emails/messages sent each day into one big email so you wont get bogged down with many many emails in your inboxes.

It's just a thought!

Hey ladies... I was talking to Jamie today and we were discussing how BSP doesnt really want to hear our ideas.

We still would like to try to have a convention - or meeting - for ladies who want to come together with ideas.

Here were ideas from before:

Convention Site:
Pittsburgh, PA (East Suburbs)

Housing:
Jamie had offered room at her house if it is needed (is that offer still valid?) You may get attacked by my little boyfriend, Jamie's son!
There are many hotel options in Monroeville, quite close to where Jamie and I both live - kind of half way!

Meeting places:
Possibly use small confrence room at Days Inn in Monroeville.
There is a meeting room at Panera Bread in Monroeville, it can be used for free as long as food is ordered. (Im sure not a problem!)
We may be able to use my church if being in a church is not a problem with anyone.

Time:
Over a weekend.

Agenda:
-discuss how younger chapters/members are viewed in BSP
-discuss how BSP can change in order to draw in more members and be more beneficial to all chapter
-discuss how we can bring ideas to BSP
-do a ritual or two - just for fun and sisterhood!
-write a ritual!
-HAVE FUN IN PITTSBURGH!

Other ideas?

I'd love to come to Pittsburgh, as long as you don't have the convention the third weekend in June. I'm committed to Miss Louisiana then, but any other time is fine with me.

Is there a Motel 6 or something similar close by?

If we are talking about summer, I'm in.

Yes, there are inexpensive motels in the area.

Thumbs up Creating A Better Beta Sigma Phi

To Know Us, Is To Love Us. You have to become known in your area! One Good Idea is to make sure you have a Publicity Committee with a Chairwoman, Co chairwoman and another sister or two on the committee as I feel the task is to big for just one - Publicity Committee informs public of Beta Sigma Phi happenings! Get known in your communities, Did you see where Wyoming Chapters must have emailed or visited their govner, and he made a Beta Sigma Phi Day! The story of Beta Sigma Phi, locally and internationally, is good news. The Publicity Committee has the opportunity to present the story of Beta Sigma Phi to the news media and make the public aware of the ideals and purposes of the world´s largest Greek-letter organization for women. There are many keys to good public relations, but CREDIBILITY is the most important aspect of your work with the news media. Strive for ACCURACY in all your news releases and contacts with the press. Make a list of News medias in your area, small local papers, check out all the free areas! Join your local chamber, a small w&M project can cover the cost! The publicity chairwoman & Co-Chairwoman along with her committee, should be alert to all free areas of announcing meetings or service projects are great!
Announce all your socials and a short synopsis, with a contact person & phone! Just a few thoughts!

In light of recent discussions on the Beta Board, I think it is time to bump this thread.

There are too many chapters "retiring," too many young women waiting to be placed into chapters. If you haven't already, get on Alison's YahooGroup.

We can make change!

To cutetiger: I run the website for the Miss Louisiana organization. The pageant was very successful and I had a good time.

And yes, I'm on Alison's Yahoogroup.
