Is 4pm an afternoon wedding?

I have a wedding in August for a pledge brother that is at 4pm. What do I wear? I have a sweet pair of seersucker pants (no coat) that I'd love to wear, but I realize that if 4 o'clock qualifies as evening than a suit would be more appropriate.

There's nothing on the invitation or the website stating indicating the formality of the wedding...

Where is the ceremony taking place; a church, outdoors?

I would still consider 4 o'clock an afternoon wedding. Late afternoon, but afternoon nontheless. To me, evening constitutes anything after 5 pm. The locale of the wedding is also a good indicator of formality.

The wedding is at 4 pm but when is the reception? If the reception begins at 6 pm, I would go with more formal, or change in between the ceremony and reception.

Depends on the mood of the ceremony the couple is trying to create...

I agree with AGDee. The wedding may be an afternoon wedding, but the reception will be in the evening, so I would wear something dressier.

Dude, 4:00 is after 12:00 so it is afternoon!

If you are gioing to be a guest then be dress casual dressy as it is going to be HOT in Aug.

I am going to a Stand up funeral myself today for My Best friends Daughter who is like a Neice to me.

Blazer and Slacks.

Dont go and be miserable. Maybe check with some of Your Brothers and see what they are wearing.

"Evening" begins at 6:00, so 4:00 is considered afternoon.
