Question Would You Tell?

What would you do if someone told you they were a member of another NPHC organization but you later found out they weren't? Is it your responsibility to tell members of that org. that someone is out there perpin' or do you let them find out on their own?

Exclamation Every organization...

has their own way with dealing with liars, fakes and cheats! I would personally call the person out if that person was trying to be my "friend". And I would trust that said organization would handle their business the best way they knew how.

One of my oldest and dearest friends used to perp about being a Zeta. She had every intention of going to college and seeking membership in our illustrious sisterhood, but real life (and a romance) got in the way and she wasn't able to finish school. She would buy para, but never wear it out. She had a Zeta license plate on her car. She even bought a "Property of Zeta Phi Beta" t-shirt and made her fiancé wear it.

I didn't think anything about it at the time (because at the time, I was researching other organizations ), but once I became a Zeta, she stopped perpatrating a fraud. She didn't really give an explanation, just that she didn't want to do it anymore.

i wouldn't...i've learned that...when people stoop that low...let them be...eventually natural law will catch up with them...and it is a waste of time to even attempt to rationalize a situation like that...

If not you...

I would tell. I, as well as many members of BGLOs , work too hard for our organizations. It's unfair to us that someone is out there misrepresenting themselves as members when they don't put in any work.

Besides, with the all the technlogical advancements we have in our society, it's not as easy to "perp" as it once was. So even you don't tell, it will come out sooner or later.

As it happened, Iaccidently did this to a "friend". She came to me and said she had joined a grad chapter of another BGLO over the Christmas holidays. I was so excited for her. I even bought her a frame for her car. I told her to tell the news to one of her "sorors" that had just walked up. She was very hesitant. I mentioned her new "affiliation" to one of her other "sorors". Needless to say, the word got back to the grad chapter. They had never heard of her, nor had they had an intake in over a year. I couldn't believe she had lied to me. I suppose it did all come out in the wash.
