Omega scholar at the "House."

(The following article was reproduced from the Fall 2005 issue of The Oracle, p.60.)

Atlanta, GA - Bro. James C. Pendleton (4-Psi-'03) walked gracefully across the graduation stage as one of the most decorated students at the prestigious Morehouse College and in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Just one month after his 21st birthday, Pendleton graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Neuroscience. He was honored at graduation with cords and accourtrements from Morehouse College, the Biology Department, and seven different honor societies.
In April, Pendleton was awarded a pin with the likeness of the Honorable Dr. Ernest Everett Just by the newly-elected Seventh District Representative, Bro. Joseph Williams, in recognition of his continued scholarship and induction into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, of which Dr. Just was a member. This pin adds to the collection of awards he has received from his beloved fraternity. In October, while serving as Basileus of Psi Chapter, he received the Georgia State Undergraduate Scholarship Award.
Pendleton was also recognized by his peers by being selected to the Morehouse College Hall of Fame by The Maroon Tiger, the College's student newspaper, which he served as the Managing Editor. In addition, he was recognized by his former employers, the National Institutes of Health, as he was awarded the Medical Scientist Program Training Grant for the funding of his medical education.
He was accepted into the highly selective combined M.D./Ph.D. programs of Cornell University Medical School, Columbia University School of Medicince, Harvard University Medical School, and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
In July, Pendleton will begin the Ph.D. portion of his graduate education in the Department of Neuroscience and associated departments at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He will study movement disorders, specifically ataxia associated with cerebellar deficits.
