Would you vote for a brother or sister no matter what?
Tip of the hat to AGDee and the Alpha Gamma Delta forum for this question...
If a brother or sister of your GLO was running for office, would you vote for that person even if their political views were completely different from your own? Would it make a difference if that person was someone you knew personally or not? (By knew personally, I mean someone who is/was in your college or alum chapter, or someone you interact with regularly, not someone you've met briefly or just heard speak at a convention or something)
My answer: I wouldn't vote for anyone, Brother or not, if I completely disagreed with his or her views...even if I knew them well. (sometimes especially if I knew them well!) If I was undecided between a Brother and another candidate, all else being fairly equal in my mind, of course I'd vote for the Brother.

I wouldn't vote for them in either case, but I'll admit to feeling some guilt about it.

I've voted against a brother just once... but I did it because I liked the other brother that was running better
I did vote for Sen. Tom Coburn (EE, Oklahoma State) in the U.S. Senate election, so yes, you can direct all of your hate mail to me
I did think that Bob Anthony ( DE, Oklahoma) was the better candidate. The 3rd guy in the Republican primary was a scumbag, and the Democratic challenger was Kerryesque -- voted and behaved one way in Oklahoma and another way in D.C.

I wouldn't either, but I would still be happy if the sister won the election, for both her and the Fraternity. I'd like to be able to brag that we had a Governor, or President, etc.

No way. If Condi runs for president, I can't bring myself to vote for her. I hear she's an amazing woman, but I don't think I could do it. It also depends on who she is running against. I'm set enough in my views that I won't be swayed to vote for someone I wouldn't normally.

No way.
It's one thing to post those "Vote for my XYZ sister who could win an all-expense paid trip to Iceland if she gets the most votes!!" and get everyone to vote b/c she's your sorority sister..
.. but it's quite another thing to vote for someone just because they are your sorority sisters when it comes to public office.

No.
Obviously there is some relevence to them being a member of my GLO, and there are probably some values that we hold in common. But there's no way I would vote for someone just because she's a sister...I only vote for who I think is the best candidate for the job, period.

This is taking your GLO affiliation way too far. I have sisters that I love dearly but I never want to see their name in a polling booth - and I know I have sisters who feel the same way about me.

Entering a politically based discussion with a sister whose thinking is different than I is about as far as I go....

I usually vote Republican, BUT...
I will admit that after having met Rep. Pat Schroeder (D) from Colorado & Sen. Blanche Lambert Lincoln (D) from Arkansas at Chi Omega functions...I certainly would have considered voting for both of them. I was impressed.
