Fads
If you could bring back a fashion trend what would it be? Personally I like Bamboo earrings.

Maybe I'm wrong, being a little older. But what I like is that it appears you can wear anything now. I'm seeing everything, mini's, boot-leg, flare-leg, straight-leg, cottons, polesysters, prints, strips, fur, leather, Baggie, Wal-marts fashiions, Marshall Fields fashions. It's great.
Something I use to like, but never had the body for was the "CATSUIT". I use to admire women who could wear them.

Chuck Taylor All-Stars, shell-topped Adidas, and Jack Purcell canvas sneakers. Khakis with the buckle in the back. Peter Pan collars and circle pins. The FIERCE "line sweaters" that greeks used to wear in the 50s and 60s.
Does it show I'm a preppy at heart?

They wore them in the 70s and early 80s too. I have an awesome one hanging in my closet. Line number on one sleeve
Crossing year on the other
Dove on the back
A Royal Blue heart ('cause I was in love with a Sigma back then)
A few other things are on it too. I have gained a few pounds since my glroy days on the yard so it looks a little different on me now, plus it is 20 years old. I wish they made those sweaters now, I would order a new one.
Best piece of para I received. Yes, my sweater was a gift from a soror. I too will be passing it down to a soror (I hope).

My bad. The ones I've seen from the 70s and 80s were the pull-over sweaters.. earlier than that the ones I saw were cardigans. Of course, maybe it was just the style in Atlanta; I checked yearbooks from Clark College from 1950-1975, and a few that my brother had from his time there 1982-1986.
I did find someone who sells the sweaters now: http://www.thegreekshop.com/sweaters.html

It must have been an Atlanta style with the pullover only--I had a cardigan as did a few other BGLO sorority members on my campus. The guys mostly ordered the pullovers. Sorority/Fraternity sweaters were not as popular when I was an undergrad mainly due to cost. The crossing jackets were less expensive so most of the BGLO members who crossed around the time I did ordered jackets. When you look at the photos from the early 80s you will see far more jackets than sweaters. Also notice that most of the pics don't have members throwing handsigns. Hmm...maybe that is another topic starter. When did throwing up a handsign become the only way that BGLO members like to take photos? You see formal attire and handsigns; service project participation and handsigns; standing outside to enter church and handsigns. LOL
By the way...thanks for the sweater vendor link.

LOL...I've been wondering that too. I saw some photos from the mid 1980s of a Zeta chapter at Georgia State and I swear, it looks like they're throwing up the Sigma Gamma Rho sign. When I asked about it, I got some really unbelievable answers.
Does anyone know when handsigns came about?
