Panhel consultant?
The campus where I advise is looking into requesting a Panhel consultant visit. I would love to hear from anyone who has had an NPC visit to their campus.
I would specifically like to know what the total cost for the visit ended up being and whether the visit was helpful to Panhel and to the individual chapters. Thanks!

While I can't exactly answer your question...I do have some insight.
We've had ladies from our nat'l org come to do workshops with us at various points. It entailed either a day or an evening commitment and we did all sorts of activities. The plus side is that for the girls who really bought into it, it can make a huge difference. Unfortunately, much of my chapter thinks they know better than these ladies. The suggestions proposed did not get implemented and in retrospect, visits felt like a waste.
Hence my advice to you....if you find that the consult is do-able, really evaluate the extent to which you're willing to buy into their message. If you are...I say go for it

On the other side of the coin...anyone coming in to do these sorts of workshops needs to realize that different campi (tm Erik) are different. They should research their audience before making the presentation - one size does not fit all.
If someone comes in and proposes "dormstorming" and hanging out at the student center to try and rush new girls when the campus is 90% unhoused commuters who go home immediately after class - they're going to sound like an idiot. It doesn't matter if they have other ideas that may be great, they're going to get lost because the women in the chapter are going to realize they're getting canned information.
So if you do get a Panhel consultant - make sure she is from or has done extensive work with schools whose population, etc is similar to your own.

Angie is talking about an NPC Consult visit. Members of different NPC groups team up to visit a campus, normally a campus where they do not have a chapter and they have a special area of focus (recruitment etc). I know people who do these but don't know what schools they have visited to point you in the right direction. Angie, maybe contact the NPC Area Advisor for some assistance. If you need help finding out who she is, pm me.

My school recently had a visit from our NPC area advisor because of the MUCH larger than normal numbers fo women we've been getting going through rush, and because my chapter is kinda behind despite this increase in numbers. I suppose it was helpful, but the council voted not to do what she suggested (release figures) , so I don't really see what the point was in having her out. I also don't really know how much it cost to have her come out, but I could find out for ya.

I can't imagine paying hundreds of dollars to ignore the advice of consultants you paid to give you advice. However, I can imagine Panhel doing exactly that at the campus I advise. Hopefully it won't come to pass.
We're still pursuing the idea of getting an NPC consultant. This campus has a very sloppy recruitment and I am sincerely hoping that NPC consultants would come in and tell the women how and why to change that. Am I asking too much?
Glitter--did the NPC consultants give you any additional advice besides "release figures"?
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Please keep 'em coming!

We called in the consultant as I said because in the past 4n years have increased from an average chapter size of 20 to an average chapter size of about 50. Quota jumped from 12- 42 in the past 4 years Unfortunately my chapter hasn't made this fabulous quota the past few rushes. So We called the consultant. Her main advice to try and rectifu the situation... because at my Alma Mater, having chapters above 50 doesn't really work because having everyone in the chpater take two littles and not having adequate meeting space puts stress on the chapters they don't need.
The panhel consultant's advice was basically to start using release figures, because right now we don't. Also she thoght we needed to do more just "pro-greek" events leading up to rush. Other suggestions were limiting the number of sisters a chapter was allowed to have in the party room at any time.
