collegeconfidential.com

I wish I found this website a couple of years ago, especially the messageboard forums.

It is informative. Some of those forums can get heated and border on the hilarious.

As I said, I wish I found this site back when my daughter was beginning her hs career!!!! The college application process is a high stakes game and one better know what to do before embarking on the voyage.

Despite being a card-carrying Republican, I miss the driven liberalism of NE/NY parents especially in regards to their children's education. I grew up in that atmosphere and find the greater DC area way too laid back.

I checked out the board for my alma mater, and it's actually pretty solid. They even touched on the rumors of grade deflation, which have been going around the school since I started in '99.

I guess the danger with boards like that is that people could take those discussions as the absolute truth, but if people are realistic about things the added advice could definitely help.

My (public) high school was very on top of things with the application process, so I wouldn't have really needed this board. I guess not every school is like that, though, so one more resource can't hurt.
