CMU Chapter

Hello!

Just a short question - Does anyone know if the chapters at Carnegie Mellon have chapter houses or suites?

Thanks!

Believe they all have houses...sort of a "row" style...as in theyre all joined together/next to eachother. They sit on the "academic" side of the soccer field.

A pretty long article about upcoming changes in Carnegie - Mellon "Greek Quad" housing, plus renovation plans and progress, was published a couple of weeks ago in the Carnegie Pulse for March 31, 2006. So for those interested in housing issues or CMU or both, the article is at

Edited to add: CMU has a picture of the structure where the "houses" of most of the sorority chapters are located. It's at

Seeing the pics brings back fond memories They certainly aren't beautiful outside but they were very lovely inside and women clamored to live there despite the freedoms available in the dorms.

Who is in the old Theta house?

I had heard about KappaSig but not about DU. When I was there decades ago, DU were the "good boys." And I think our university president at the time was a DU.

I'm an alum of Zeta Psi Sigma (soon to be Alpha Chi Omega).

The sorority houses at CMU consist of a duplex and a triplex. The main floor has a living room and kitchen, and the two upper floors have eight double rooms. Here's a (not so great) picture: http://www.housing.cmu.edu/buildings/sororities/

Kappa Alpha Theta's former house is currently occupied by Kappa Phi Lambda (an Asian-Interest sorority). However, I don't believe they'll be retaining it for next year. There are plans to knock down the wall between two of the houses to make a larger 32-person house, but I don't think that construction will happen for at least another year.
