Should I pledge during my athletic season???

For the men and women who have been through the process. I have been with this group for a while now. It's coming to that point where I need to make an informed decision about dropping from the line or SEE IT THROUGH. My athletic season is about to begin and it is very strenuous on the body. Track is what will pay the bills in the near future and my first love. To get to the point I have never quit anything in my life and I dont want to quit this by no means. But, if its going to hurt my season and hurt my chance at making a big dream come true... What should I do???

You pledge when you get a bid.

You already made your pledge, so if you Pledge to Join, and then quit during pledgeing, why let you back in? Just so you can quit the brotherhood when your mid-terms or too hard or whatever other reasons people quit. If you de-pledge now, its not like you can finish later. If you quit now, you quit for life.

He's not talking about the kind of fraternity which gives out bids.

As I said in his other thread, he needs to speak with his dean. He knows what kind of dean I mean.

one of the girls in my new member class received her bid around the beginning of soccer season. she was able to handle the load of being on the team while in the sorority AND got a 4.0 that quarter. she did have to miss an event for an out of state game but was initiated with everyone else at the end of that term. needless to say, if you can manage to balance fraternity life, track season and your grades, don't let it stop you from pursuing membership.

Track was #1 for me too, but I totally did not consider greek life while on the team, and missed out on a lot!. consider speaking to your coach about possible conflicts and how he/she would handle your possible absence from a few meets/practices. make sure this is what you want for both commitments, as ppl said in this thread, this comes once in a lifetime. maybe 'practice' or take it easy through indoor and you might cross before outdoor starts, where you can commit fully once again to running?
