Calendars

Has anyone ever made a chapter calendar as a fundraiser for philanthropy? Currently, the idea of making a GQ type calendar that we can sell to raise money for an unspecified charity/organization. Any tips & ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have worked with a not for profit that did a calander for two years. Get them to market no later than Oct. Beware of some national book sellers. We had problems getting money from them from the sales.

How many calendars could a chapter of about 20 men sell? I was thinking somewhere around 500.

You will have the chapter sell them, no retail outlet, right. I think 500 would be a good number. Order a low number, you can always re order. I know that we were stuck with cases of calenders. They were used a a marketing tool after the first of the year. Be sure and proof read well. We had March, March, May, no April. We were able to have the pre press work donated, so that cut down on over head.

I hope that this helps.

500 calendars divided by 20 members equals = 25 calendars per man.

Do you think each man knows 25 people who would be willing to buy the calendar? Remember, there may be cross over in that more than one member may know the same person.

You might also look at advance sells. If you can do so, perhaps work something out with the sororities that buy in bulk. Maybe y'all will buy X tickets to their next event for every calendar purchased. Or the sorority that purchases (in advance) the most will be invited over for a special calendar release party.

I have thought about the same thing myself. It boils down to the motivation factor that the gentleman will have over the project. It should be able to sell, given that it will be for a worthwhile cost. Hopefully, the cost can be cut down to a minimal amount as well, if we can find a friendly printer.

You are on the right road. Keep over head low! I have worked with orgs that don't know this. Try to find a good photographer who is good. He or she may be able to use the calendar as part of his or her portfolio.

When I did this for an arts organization, we used the selection process as a way to build buzz. We put all of the art on display and let everyne interested to come see the art that may be in the calendar. When the calendar was released, we had a reception for the artist that had made the cut. We invited the public and had light food and drink. I know that you all will not be able to serve cocktails. All food was donated, and the wine was sold to us a a discount. The local papers came and covered both events.
