I just wanted to ask...
Greetings to all who view this forum. I am entering my Junior year in college and am making my decision about whether to apply for MIP or not. I have made my mind up as to which one, but am still seeking as much information before taking that final step. As women who have been where I am, I am curious to know what made you dedicate yourself to Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. If I am offending anyone by this question, many apologies. If not, I would greatly appreciate any feedback that you all give.

Hello
I am glad that you are taking the opportunity to explore all of the sororties before making what will and should be a life time committment to one organization.
From my personal standpoint I was attracted to Zeta because the Zeta women on my campus were actively involved in other organizations and leadership positions outside of Zeta. I did not want to become a clone of the members of the organization I sought to join and clearly the members of Zeta were not carbon copies on one another.
I also met Zeta women that were open, friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand (as well as some of the best steppers on the yard),

Hello
Me being a Neo I understand how you feel and I remember all to well. I always new I wanted to be Greek. My grandmother is A Delta but Zeta was put on my heart. I chose Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc because it provided me an opporunity to grow as a leader without turning me into something that I did not like. Zeta welcomed my individuality while providing me with an opporunity to meet people who had the same core values about service and the upliftment of people.
I am charter member so there were no Zetas on my campus, but the Zetas in the Atlanta area were always representing Finerwomanhood and a strong presence in the overall community.

I chose Zeta in part because I saw Zeta women who were of all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds and professional objectives. Some of the Sorors I am closest to are on the very board (although I just recently met some in person ) and although we are different, we are united under the four principles our Founders envisioned. This enables us to bring unique perspectives to the table for the common good of Zeta.
I was also impressed by the level of Sisterly Love I felt by "the Zetas" at my first social...if you ever go to a 70 year old Zeta woman's Blue and White painted home, and view her special blue-ti-ful Blue and White room, you will understand the depth of love many Sorors have for Zeta. After I saw that, I knew Zeta was the Sorority for me.
I won't even start on the level of service the women of Zeta provide to ALL our communities .
I will say, Zeta is not the Sorority for everybody--it takes an exceptional woman to be a Zeta woman, and I am honored to be a Finer Woman amongst her ranks.
Good luck upon your quest, and may you be as satisfied with your choice as I am with mine.

I am a neo and I can recall the way that I was treated my members of other organizations when I just casually said "Hello" to one of them. However, when I approached a Woman of Z Phi B she treated like a sister without even knowing who I was and I studied and learned more about each organization and saw what they were doing on a more personal note in the community I knew that Zeta was the right choice for me. It takes a strong, determined woman to stand above the rest and that is exactly what Zeta does.

I must jump in. I was attracted to Zeta Phi Beta above any other similar organization because of her uniqueness. Zeta Phi Beta is the sorority for women who are not afraid to go against the norm and be different. Zeta women I encountered were trailblazers, confident, active on campus and in the community, approachable, together, and without stereotypes.
I'm the type of woman who does not follow the crowds or numbers (not that numbers are not significant). I like to be where there is potential for personal development and room to build and improve.
So, 8 years ago on February 29, 1992 my prayer was answered (Yes, I did pray about this), and on the wings of Zeta's Dove, I'm still soaring to higher heights.

Wow, I'm loving the responses sorors!
I chose Zeta Phi Beta for many reasons, and a lot of them have already been said, so I won't rehash, but I would like to say that the reasons that influence your decision will be specific to you and no one can tell you that

I've seen threads similar to this in other sorority MBs. This is the first time I've seen women discuss that they choose their sorority because of the uniqueness of its indivduals and it's efforts to maintain tradition while continually moving towards new things. As one poster here put it, she wanted to join the organization without becoming a "clone." I really respect your organization because of that. I've always noticed on my campus that the Zeta's seem to be the most indivdual group (I am not speaking only about BGLO's here, but the NPC's too). God Bless and the best of luck to Intensify in your quest.
