Also presenting are AXO, DG, and SK. I think the presentations were pretty spread out, seems like the last one is June 14.

I found this link on the UT-Tyler site
Fraternities, Sororities to Present at UT-Tyler
Apparently they are starting a greek system. Here's another link about the woman in charge.

This is really great to hear for Tyler! We spent many summers there as kids, and it's a great place to visit!
Is anyone involved first hand in this expansion process? I'd love to hear how presentations and the like are going. Is this a starting from scratch process, or are locals being petitioned?

I'm pretty sure these chapters will start from scratch. Also, I think 2 sororities and 2 fraternities will be chosen to colonize.

Yes, it will be divided between NIC-2. NPC-2. And NHPC-2.
If one looks at the % of Students and the mix, it makes no sense.
But, remember, it is a first step for Greeks on UTT!

Is This The Old Tyler Junior College?
We had a chapter there in the 1970s when it was a junior college. It was a horrible idea - not Tyler especially, just the idea of a chapter in a junior college - and it died an ugly death along with the other fraternities. Don't know who else was there at the time. If Texas has turned it into a 4-year institution then I'm glad to see that Greeks are eager to be involved.

But one must also take into account that the NPHC includes both sororities and fraternities, so one NPHC group of each gender is not equal to two NIC groups. Furthermore, given that the sizes of NPHC groups tend to be smaller at most campuses than NIC/NPC groups, I don't think that this is a big problem.
Besides, one NPHC fraternity and one NPHC sorority sounds like the minimum of historically black groups you can invite. What do you want them to do, Tom -- make the Alphas start accepting women so UT-Tyler doesn't have to invite AKA?

Not to mention our "colonization" processes work a little differently, depending on the org.
If I were a bettin' man, I'd say that the two NPHC "slots" are probably the fraternity and sorority that already has interest or prospects (or transfer members) on campus.
