Casual Corner / Petite Sophisticate
I'm really bummed these stores are closing I wasn't a huge fan of their entire line, but I LOVED their non-iron and easy care stretch button-down shirts. Great work clothes.
Does anyone have any suggestions for similar clothes sold elsewhere?

I feel your pain. I loved them too.

I'd suggest Talbots, but they are probably too strait-laced for a young person, and unless the stuff is on sale, the shirts are somewhat pricey.
Same with Ann Taylor --better on sale.

I keep seeing signs with something about "The Annex" in the stores during their final closeouts... do you know if "The Annex" is going to be very similar to CC or PS?
I noticed that the stores are selling everything down to the last mannequin... so that makes me wonder if it will be something radically different

I actually got some very basic pieces that I can wear to work. Dress coat, suit pants, etc... I'm bummed that it's one less place to get decent "teacher" clothes that do NOT have embroidered busses and numbers on them.

LoL that's so true
They have cute suits too!
A couple of days before my first day at my first job, I walked in, and said "Well, I start my first job in a couple of days... it's business casual, and I don't know where to start!!"
The nice lady got me a million outfits to try on.. yay!

Ann Taylor on sale is reasonable. Thats where I get a lot of my work clothes. Also, if you sign up for their mailing list, they will send you coupons for 15-20% off.
A couple of seasons ago, I bought a lot of work clothes at Harolds. Right now, their stuff seems more casual. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for spring.
What exactly happened to Casual Corner? I know they closed, just wondering why.

The Annex is their equivalent of Ann Taylor vs. Ann Taylor Loft. Basically the same store.
We have a CC/PS in the mall here in Clarksville and a CC Annex in the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville. Both of them are closing.
Which sucks majorly - I am always in need of business casual clothes for my therapy internship and with clinic clients - they're affordable and cute without making me look 70.

Ann Taylor is cool, but I didn't know that anyone under 35 wore clothes from Casual Corner.

So are most of their stores already closed or in the process of closing?
I'm only 5ft tall and Petite Sophisticate is one of the only places I've been able to find nice business clothes that I dont' have to get altered too much. I'm going to the mall (an hr away) this wknd. I hope it isn't completely closed yet because I could really use some more nice business clothes that actually fit.

They used to have much funkier clothes, but the last few years it was work stuff, period.
Talbots does have the occasional cool thing - I have a sexy blouse from there - but then again I like a very tailored look.

The problem is/was that the corner was too casual to begin with.
I dont think anyone should be shopping at a store with the word 'causal' in the name. Even if it is, might as well just use the euphamism, 'lazy' corner, 'don't really give a damn' corner, etc.
Just like the 'Casual Male Big & Tall' chain. Thats how most of the shoppers got big; they too casual.

I've got another one along those lines: Dress Barn. Do you really want to shop someplace that makes you think of pigs, cows and other farm animals?
