MLK

Today Dr King is remembered. I was wondering today as I was gathering coats and buying coats for our coat drive here in Charlotte....Am I trying to do all I can to live his dream. Are we as a community striving to live the dream. I am concerned. We have come so far but there is so far to go. Are our children...the next generation...going to be so removed from him that they don't understand the struggle? Even I, at times, feel I don't/can't truly understand...a true understanding like my parents have as to what he stood for and how far we have come. They were there, they understood the urgency of "the cause".
Dr. King IMO is being separated from the struggle...turned into a fable like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...We need to help the youth understand that this man was jailed and threatened because he beleived we were a great people who deserved the same chance as everyone else. He was not this docile, emasculated man we see in these commercials. He had more than a "dream"..he had a plan...do you have a plan for your life...your children's life...your loved ones life...

This is just me kinda thinking and typing at the same time....so of course this is just my opinion...

Most people say have a Happy MLK Day...I will say have a Productive MLK Day.

LoJ
