Looking for Some Sisters!!!
Ok girls, I'm going to try and condense a long story into a short one.
Last year, I moved from Connecticut to Atlanta, Georgia. In Connecticut, I was a sister in the Eta Omicron chapter at Western Connecticut State University. When I moved to Georgia, due to issues with my parents, I had to take time off of school to work and save up to begin classes again. Since I'm not in school, I've really had a hard time meeting people, and I miss having my sisters! I'll be back in school in january, but unfortunately, the school doesn't have an adpi chapter. I was just looking for some sweet, fun, wholesome girls to hang out with, and it's not exactly easy for a girl to go out and meet other girls, if you know what I mean. So if it's not to weird, is there anyone interested in hanging out with a sister that lives near Alpharetta, Georgia? It's Georgia! There's Adpis all over the place!!!
Thanks so much!!
Love and Loyally,
Reese

While I can't help you find some ADPi friends in Georgia (unless the local Alumnae Association could help you?), I have to say it:
I LOVE Your Screen Name!!!!
Welcome to GreekChat! Hope you can make a friend or two here in the meantime!

Thanks, lol.. just kind of a spur of the moment thing.
And thanks for the welcome, I hope that I can find some sisters out there. Problem is, I was newly initiated just a few months before I left, so I don't know how to go about dealing with the alumni association or anything.

Funny
You know, I just wanted to add one more thing...
I was reading some of the old posts about just random things (dogs, christmas trees, cookies, 3 year olds), and it cracked me up! You guys are so funny! I really hope to meet up with some of you!
And just for fun, I want to put my two sense in about all those subjects:
I LOVE dogs. Had an Australian Shepherd named pepper when I lived with my father in Connecticut. He was the sweetest, most adorable animal ever! My bf is buying a house soon and has asked me to move in with him, and when I do, I told him that we HAVE to get a dog!
Christmas trees... I don't think most dogs look at it as a toilet unless they're not properly house trained.. at least I never had a problem. But my cat did like to sleep in the tree, lol.
Eating shiny things on cookies... i have no idea what you're talking about, lol
And 3 year olds... I'm 19... just thinking about it makes my head hurt, lol.... I absolutely LOVE children, and I can't wait to have them, but I am definitely not ready for them yet!
So there you go! A little insight into PeachPi!!

I found out quite unexpectedly that, yes, some dogs (read: Buffy) look at the Christmas tree and think, "Woo Hoo!! Indoor Plumbing!"
Seems that my mother didn't walk him yesterday (the snow's higher than, well, his plumbing!), and thought that I did last night. He must have been desparate, because he left a few "treats" under the tree for this morning. Poor little guy was so embarrassed, though, so as long as it doesn't happen again, we're going to let it slide - this time!

WELCOME PEACHPi !!!
Well, I don't think I can help you much in Alpharetta from here in Huntsville, AL but there has to be an alumna organization around you there, and they can help you find out a way to enjoy your sisterhood "away from your initiated home."
Oh and I have an Aussie Shep. Mix they are the smartest dogs.
Enjoy Greekchat - it really helped me get back into ADPi after graduation. I am now a chapter advisor and greekchat was a part of that. (with basic information and whatnot)
Don't hesitate to ask any questions. Oh yea and Honeychili is the best GREEKCHAT Adpi to ask anything she usually has all of the answers or she will help you find them.

Actually she is an alum...unless she changes her mind and goes to a school with an ADPi chapter and decides to affiliate. Once she starts at the school without an ADPi (or even with an ADPi and decides not to affiliate) she automatically assumes Alum status. Please correct me if I am wrong though! PeachPi just make sure they filled out a Delta Exit Form for you when you left your chapter.

Welcome PeachPi. Love your screen name!
Because you were initiated and you have left school for another school without a chapter, you are considered an alum. There is an optional ceremony called Jewel Degree that you may go through at any time, but it isn't required for you to be considered an official alum.
Go to the ADPi website at www.alphadeltapi.org. Click on contact us and email member services, telling them you are a new initiate who has left school but wants to connect with ADPi's. They will help you get in touch with an alum group.
Alumnae Associations are comprised of sisters from all over the place, and they come in all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds. There will be a lot of events to benefit RMH, and probably some fun things like scrapbooking parties, holiday events and more. Alum groups are a bit more laid back than collegiate chapters, as most alum are in a different point in their lives-- it won't be as big of a time committment as what you are used to, so it will be a good idea to invest some time to find out what is happening on your new campus and to get involved there with student gov't, the school paper, homecoming/dance marathon, etc., to help you meet other students, too!
Good luck at your new school. I'm sure you'll find a special sisterhood within the campus clubs and activities to meet new friends. Keep us posted on your Alum Assoc. activities!

Thanks!
I just wanted to thank you all for all of your help. I've been in New Orleans for the past couple months with my boyfriend, helping with all of the hurricane stuff, but as soon as I go back to Atlanta, I'll definitely look into the Alumni Organizations.
