Atlanta's Atlantic Station: park at your own risk
Went to a movie at Atlanta's new Atlantic Station today, stayed for a second one, and had a sandwich/chili at the FOX sports cafe next door.
Got a $2 parking discount from the movie theatre, and my parking charge was still $12.00.
Will never park there again. Will visit theatres with free parking in the future.
PS: Munich: not really good. Producers: funny, but I am not a big fan of movie musicals.

They must've just implemented the paid parking. I was there last month and didn't have to pay. The garage is a disaster, though. There's only 2 ways out so on busy days, it gets really backed up. I wonder if the people who live in those condos above the shops have a different place to park.

I've been there several times since it opened, and I was under the impression that they were only doing free parking for a limited time to get people to come. I always figured they would start charging. Its not really a big deal to me.

$12 parking would be dirt cheap in downtown Chicago!

I think that parking is free on Sundays (that goes for all of Atlanta, I think, including the rest of midtown and downtown). It's a shame that parking is so expensive, but I'm guessing the idea was to encourage more people to take mass transit, which simply does not happen in Atlanta, for various reasons. Hope this helps.

Atlantic Station is a bust to. They did not get the crowds they expected. It was a interesting experiment. I would hate to live around all those shops and restaurants especially at the rent they are asking for. There is a similar type set up being built very near perimeter mall.

I know ALOT of people who would use mass transit if it were offered in convenient way. CCT is NOT convenient. Marta needs to come up I-75. On CCT it takes an hour to get from Marietta to downtown, and when I drive it it takes me 20 minutes, TOPS. I would totally ride MARTA if I had access to it. But as long as the idiot voters in cobb county keep shooting it down, we wont ever get it =(
If we did ever get it, I think it should go all the way to Chastain Road. That way Kennesaw State students could use it, and I could ride from Marietta to town center and it would be fantastic.
//end rant
