Help a sister fight Cancer!
Hi girls.
I have joined the fight for cancer with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I plan on raising money to help save the lives of those diagnosed with cancer, as well as making their lives a little bit more comfortable. Visit http://www.active.com/donate/tnttxgc/EmiliaK
Cancer has been a big force in my life. My grandma was diagnosed and lost the battle with cancer. My mother was diagnosed my freshman year of college and is still fighting the cure for cancer.
Since it is so close to me I felt the need to do something. I did lots of research and found The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All I have to do is raise at least $4400 dollars and run a half marathon. On second thought that is alot to do, lol. But I believe with support from my family and sorority sisters I can do it. 13.1 miles, thats alot, but it will definately be worth it.
Please help me in my fight by donating some money to my fundraising. Why not donate $2 for every mile I'm running. That comes up to $26.20 dollars. The price of a shirt, but also the amount it takes for a cancer patient to get medication. Help out those less fortunate then you. http://www.active.com/donate/tnttxgc/EmiliaK
Thanks in advance,

No offense, but most people aren't going to donate money to a stranger on the internet.

If you had a few (thousand) more posts, and people felt like they knew you, they would be more likely to help out.

Seriously. Why on earth would I donate $26 to some random stranger off the internet who may not even be legit?
I'm sure it's for a good cause and all, but this is not the way to fundraise for something.

Thats fine. Just trying to put it out there. Every dollar helps. I'm not offended. The money doesn't come to me anyway. It goes to Team in Training which is a national website. You can look it up if you like. I was just starting out by making a post so that people who might want to donate, because it does count for taxes. This is not my main way of fundraising, just an idea I thought might help with raising a couple dollars. I forgot to edit out the amount. I only intended for the post to say donate a dollar or so. Nothing big. My main fundraising is letter writing campaigns. I just got started about a week ago, and this is my first time, so I was a bit confused about the right way to go about fundraising. But thanks for your comments.
P.S. If anyone is interested in making a tax deductible donation then you can donate any amount no matter how small. Thanks so much.

Good luck with your fundraising. I hope that you reach your goal!
I am checking out the website. For what it's worth, it says that "The Society dedicates 75% of every dollar spent to support research activities, patient services and education."

Thanks. Sorry if I offended some of you by posting, but I got kind of freaked out when I realized I had to raise $4400, $1100 of that pays for entry fees and travel, and the other 75% is donated. I hope I do reach my goal as well. Running a marathon has always been a dream of mine so I'm real excited. I'll keep yall updated on my progress.

Good luck with the training and fundraising. I see ads for Team in Training all over Chicago. It looks like a good organization.
